Train and Machu Picchu experience

We were picked up from the hotel and taken to the train station, and our guide explained where to go before boarding. The train ride was beautiful and much more comfortable than I expected. At Aguas Calientes, there was a little waiting before the bus, but nothing unreasonable. Our guide at Machu Picchu was excellent and gave us plenty of historical details without turning the visit into a long lecture. Definitely the strongest day of the trip.

Delayed pickup but good recovery

We had a small delay on one of the morning pickups, which initially made us nervous because we had a train to catch. The driver kept us updated and got us to the station with enough time to board. The Sacred Valley stops were beautiful, especially Ollantaytambo, and we appreciated having some free time to walk around rather than being taken from one place to another immediately. By the end of the five days we were tired, but the itinerary gave us an incredible overview of the Cusco region.

Smooth organization

We had a fantastic five days in Peru, and the organization was much better than I expected. Our driver was waiting at the Cusco airport and helped with the luggage before taking us to the hotel. The Sacred Valley day was busy but enjoyable, and having the guide explain the ruins at Pisac and Ollantaytambo made a big difference. Machu Picchu was the highlight, especially the train ride through the valley. Rainbow Mountain was exhausting because of the altitude and the 4 a.m. start, but the guide kept checking on everyone and never rushed us.

The group made the hikes easier

Nobody pretended the altitude was easy. People stopped for water, encouraged each other and waited when someone needed a break. That made Rainbow Mountain much more enjoyable than if everyone had been trying to race to the top.

Five days went ridiculously fast

Every morning I thought we still had loads of time, and suddenly it was evening again. There was always somewhere else to see. The itinerary is definitely full, but I never had that feeling of wondering what we were doing next.

5 Days: Cusco, Sacred Valley, MachuPicchu and Rainbow Mountain: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.

How much does 5 Days: Cusco, Sacred Valley, MachuPicchu and Rainbow Mountain cost?

+

Prices start at $580 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 5 Days: Cusco, Sacred Valley, MachuPicchu and Rainbow Mountain take?

+

Plan for about 120 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.

Is 5 Days: Cusco, Sacred Valley, MachuPicchu and Rainbow Mountain worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 5 Days: Cusco, Sacred Valley, MachuPicchu and Rainbow Mountain?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 5 Days: Cusco, Sacred Valley, MachuPicchu and Rainbow Mountain suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 120-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 5 Days: Cusco, Sacred Valley, MachuPicchu and Rainbow Mountain?

+

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 120-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 5 Days: Cusco, Sacred Valley, MachuPicchu and Rainbow Mountain start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cusco?

+

On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Peruvian Cooking Class Cocktails and Market Tour in Cusco, Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cusco?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cusco?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
