Excellent Mount Kenya experience – 10/10!

Excellent Mount Kenya experience – 10/10! I used Equitorial Star for my Mount Kenya hike and had an absolutely excellent experience. Duncan was incredibly professional, reliable, kind and patient. I had multiple changes and rescheduling requests, as well as adjustments to the itinerary, and he went above and beyond every time to make things work. His communication, flexibility and willingness to help were exceptional. The hiking team were also fantastic. The guides were professional, experienced and genuinely caring. The food was good, the tents were pitched for us, and after long days of hiking they even brought us little treats like cookies and popcorn. They also provided warm water for us to wash our faces, which was such a thoughtful touch after a tiring day. Everyone was so willing to help and made the whole experience comfortable and enjoyable. I would highly recommend Equitorial Star to anyone planning to hike Mount Kenya. Duncan and his team made a challenging adventure feel incredibly well organised and supported. 10/10 – I would absolutely use them again!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for taking the time to share your experience with Equitorial Star Adventure Safaris. We truly appreciate your kind words. It was a pleasure having you with us, and we’re very happy to hear that you enjoyed the Mount Kenya experience and felt well supported throughout the trek. We always do our best to make our guests feel comfortable, cared for, and able to enjoy the adventure, even after a long day on the mountain. Your appreciation means a lot to Duncan and the entire team. We’re especially glad that the little touches, like the warm water, cookies and popcorn, made a difference! Thank you again for trusting us with your Mount Kenya adventure. We would be delighted to welcome you back for another adventure in Kenya in the future. Asante sana, and see you again on the mountain!

    Fantastic Mount Kenya Hiking Trip!

We had an amazing 4-day, 3-night hike up Mount Kenya with Equitorial Star Adventure. From the start, Duncan was incredibly responsive to all our questions. We took the Sirimon route up and descended via Chogoria, and the views were breathtaking. Thanks to the expert support from Duncan and his team, our entire group successfully summited Point Lenana (4,985m)! It was a challenging but incredibly rewarding authentic Kenyan adventure. Highly recommended!

    Phenomenal Mount Kenya hike

I had a wonderful time with Duncan and his team hiking Mount Kenya. Organising the trip from the UK was incredibly easy - Duncan is very responsive to WhatsApp messages and able to give all necessary information to help with packing. We were on our honeymoon so slightly tight on packing space so they let us rent the bulky equipment for a reasonable price. The hike itself is challenging but worth it. Juma, our guide, was very knowledgeable and able to moderate our speed to ensure we didn’t rush and get altitude sickness. The views are stunning, particularly down the Chogoria route. The rest of the team included the porters (Samuel, Kennedy and Naftale) who carried our belongings safely, made sure we were well looked after and always had a friendly smile. The chef, Samuel, cooked us delicious meals even at 4000m! Overall the experience was wonderful and one I’ve already recommended to my family and friends. The team go above and beyond to ensure you have a good time and mount Kenya has stunning views. It’s also not yet hit tourist craze so you won’t be stuck in a tourist queue like Kilimanjaro!

Unforgettable memory; 3 day Mt Kenya to Lenana Peak!

We did a 3-day trek to Mt Kenya with Equatorial Star. When preparing the trip, we knew 3 days would be pushing it, but unfortunately we did not have more days off from work. The team of Equatorial star was very helpful in preparing this trip and responded to our endless stream of questions. They recommended the Chogoria route, NO REGRETS HERE (what an amazing views on the gorge)!, and we managed to get to the Lenana peak on day 3. However, it would have been nice to have a 4-5 day itinerary, as it would have given us the chance to explore the beautiful surroundings a bit. As for the company, they were very professional, they came prepared, and the materials we rented from them were of good quality and fairly priced. Their professionalism really showed when one member of our group got a bit sick from the altitude. They did not doubt and helped her to get down safely and quickly, something we really appreciated as safety comes first at all times. The other guide and porters stayed with the remaining members and supported us to reach the top the next morning! We were also pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food we got on top of a mountain. Popcorns and tea after a long day of walking are amazing! Asante Sana Equatorial star for the great experience! Would highly recommend them as they are company that is managed by the guides, cooks and porters themselves, the profits will not go to some business owners, but really support the people who helped you on your trip! Additionally, they had strict policies on the amount a porter can carry, which cannot be said for all other companies we saw along the way, where we saw porters being exploited with 30kg backpacks. In short, you will not regret a trip with Equatorial Star!

4 Days Mount Kenya: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Nairobi.

How much does 4 Days Mount Kenya cost?

    +

Prices start at $880 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Nairobi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 4 Days Mount Kenya take?

    +

Plan for about 96 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Nairobi is not rushed.

Is 4 Days Mount Kenya worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Nairobi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 4 Days Mount Kenya?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is 4 Days Mount Kenya suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 96-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 4 Days Mount Kenya?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Nairobi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Nairobi and add a light layer if any part of the 96-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 4 Days Mount Kenya start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Nairobi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Nairobi?

    +

On Outty we rank every Nairobi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Wild 5-Day Safari: Magical Mara, Nakuru Wonders & Hell's Gate, 2 Days Amboseli Safari using a 4x4 Landcruiser jeep(with options), Kibera Slum Tour with Lucas. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Nairobi?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Nairobi?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

What is included in 4 Days Mount Kenya?

    +

Included: Private transportation; Lunch; All Fees and Taxes; Dinner; and Breakfast. Not included: Mountain Gear; Soft Drinks & Alcohol; and Hotel Accommodation. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.

This experience depends on good weather. If it is canceled because of poor weather, you are offered a different date or a full refund.
