Wasted Migration Trip – Stay Away From Kevin & This Company
I had a deeply disappointing safari with driver-guide Kevin, and I strongly urge all travellers to never book trips with this company again. Do not trust their service, and you must steer well clear of Kevin — he is reckless and poses safety risks to guests. I have never encountered such an unprofessional, terrible guide in all my travels. Kevin came across as cold and impatient every single day of our trip and never smiled once. English is not my first language, and his speech was hard to follow. Whenever I tried to talk to him, he would rudely snap “What?” back at me. I struggled to make sense of what he said, particularly when he used unfamiliar wildlife vocabulary. On Day 3, he parked our vehicle far away from the river, stopping us from getting a prime viewing spot for the migration. He even claimed we would not catch sight of the river crossing and wanted to drive around to look for other animals instead. I refused his suggestion and insisted on waiting by the water. The worst moment came around 4:40 PM, when we spotted thousands of wildebeest gathering for the iconic Mara River crossing. We were overjoyed at the sight, but Kevin suddenly drove away without a single heads-up. We ended up leaving the park at 5:30 PM, despite the gate sign clearly marking official closing time as 6:30 PM. We totally missed the migration crossing we had travelled so far to witness. When I challenged him about the early exit, he became irritable, fired off unrelated questions at me and gave weak excuses. He argued that 6:30 PM was merely a grace period, and mentioned an 8-hour daily game drive limit starting from our 6 AM morning departure. Crucially, he never told us about this strict time limit before our safari began — a qualified guide should always brief guests on such critical rules in advance. Kevin warned he would face a $300 overtime fine if we stayed later, yet he never gave us any early warning so we could plan our wildlife viewing time reasonably. I left heartbroken, having lost my only chance to experience this once-in-a-lifetime natural spectacle. To make everything even worse on Day 4, Kevin violently slammed the car door without warning and almost crushed my husband’s leg. This dangerous, careless behaviour proves he cannot be trusted to keep guests safe. If my husband sustains any injury from this reckless action by your staff, I will contact the Chinese Embassy in Kenya and pursue formal legal action against your company. Save yourself this horrible, stressful experience: avoid this tour operator entirely. If you ignore my warning and still book here, refuse Kevin as your guide at all costs.
Response from the operator: Dear Yvonne, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are genuinely sorry to learn that your safari did not meet your expectations, particularly as our goal is to create memorable and enjoyable experiences for every guest. We are especially sorry that you left feeling disappointed after the Mara River game drive. We understand how significant witnessing the migration crossing can be, and we appreciate how upsetting it must have been to feel that you missed such an important moment. We also take your comments regarding communication and your overall experience with your guide very seriously. Professionalism, guest care, and safety are values we expect from every member of our team, and your feedback has prompted a thorough internal review of this safari. While there are aspects of the events that differ from our guide's account, we fully acknowledge that your experience and perception are what matter most to you. It is clear that we fell short in communicating expectations and ensuring you felt heard during your journey. We sincerely regret that this was your lasting impression of Leopard Orchid Safaris. Thank you again for bringing these concerns to our attention. They will help us improve our guide training and the experience we provide to future travellers. We wish you all the very best in your future travels.

Beautiful and exciting
Wonderful experience. 4 days mid-range tour including 1 to Lake Nakuru and 2 to Masaai Mara departing from Nairobi. The trips were well organized, breaks included given the long distances. The accommodation was great, clean and the food good. During the Safari we could admire all the big 5 and many other animals. Our guide, Paul, an example of kindness, humanity and attention. He went in search of animals that were missing to see and satisfied our every request. He also took us to a Masaai village inside the Masaai Mara reserve where we could see and learn about how this community lives and explained their culture and beliefs. A life lesson. Grazie Paul.
Response from the operator: Grazie mille per la bellissima recensione!

Why this scores 52
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
4 Days Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara Safari: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Nairobi.
How much does 4 Days Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara Safari cost?
+
Prices start at $1,740 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Nairobi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 4 Days Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara Safari take?
+
Plan for about 96 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Nairobi is not rushed.
Is 4 Days Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara Safari worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Nairobi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 4 Days Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara Safari?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 4 Days Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara Safari suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 96-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 4 Days Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara Safari?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Nairobi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Nairobi and add a light layer if any part of the 96-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 4 Days Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara Safari start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Nairobi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Nairobi?
+
On Outty we rank every Nairobi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Wild 5-Day Safari: Magical Mara, Nakuru Wonders & Hell's Gate, 2 Days Amboseli Safari using a 4x4 Landcruiser jeep(with options), Kibera Slum Tour with Lucas. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Nairobi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Nairobi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
What is included in 4 Days Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara Safari?
+
