Perfect Safari…really??
I'll summarize my experience: day 1: Hotel pickup scheduled for 6:30…actually 7:45! Fairly long route. The stop at the famous balcony over the Rift was a bust due to the mist and pollution at the bottom of the valley crossed by the road that connects Uganda and Sudan. Insane traffic! Lunch upon arrival around 3:30 p.m. I opted for the visit to the Maasai village 500m away. ($20) instead of the $200 park entrance fee…Day 2: superb excursion, lots of big cats and the chance to see a lioness a few meters away devouring a wildebeest. Left at 7 a.m., returned at 6 p.m. Day 3: the driver from the day before was returning to Nairobi with the rest of the group and until 7 a.m. I didn't know what my fate would be for the day, which theoretically was supposed to be different from the day before…I doubted it because the park is relatively small (compared to the Serengeti). But it was still pleasant because animal life is full of good surprises, like the huge herd of wildebeest that was getting ready to cross the Mara River but was prevented from doing so by the mind-boggling number of 4x4s blocking their path…(that's also what a safari is). Day 4. Return to Nairobi (7 hours) on a road that was just as congested as ever. The driver didn't know that lunch was planned and obviously hadn't brought the "lunch box." Well, lions don't eat lunch whenever they want either! The camp-lodge (Rhino camp) is clean and pleasant but quite basic, tents with a good bed, shower, lukewarm water, small sink, Wi-Fi, paper, soap, and a large towel. Simple but decent food. General impression of improvisation (with our Western perspective?) but with some very good moments! The only big downside is the entrance fee of $200/day/person! My opinion: a single full day can be enough if you are in a hurry... there you go, I'll let you judge....
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review of your safari experience. We truly appreciate your honest feedback, as it helps us improve our services. We are sorry about the delayed pickup on the first day and the missing lunch box on your return journey. This should not have happened, as lunch is included, and we will address this with our operations team and driver to ensure it doesn't happen again. We are delighted, however, that you enjoyed the game drives and were rewarded with incredible wildlife sightings, from the lioness with her prey to the massive wildebeest herd gathering near the Mara River. Nature always has a way of creating unforgettable moments, even when the migration crossing does not happen as expected. Thank you as well for your comments about Rhino Camp. We are pleased you found it clean, comfortable, and welcoming. Regarding the park fees, we completely understand your perspective. These fees are set by the Maasai Mara National Reserve authorities and apply equally to all visitors, independent of tour operators. It was a pleasure hosting you, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to Kenya for another adventure in the future. Safe travels! Regards, Lesley

Masai Mara Tour
My two sisters & I went on this tour! We added a balloon ride. The whole experience was great! Friendly, informative Tour Guides. Thank you James & David! A great, fun group on our bus. (Kenya, Denmark, Japan, China & us from the US) Sightings of at least 22 different mammals including my favorites Giraffes & Elephants. Food was good & even for me a Vegetarian! Accommodations were comfortable enough. An informative and special visit with the Masai Village. Everything ran on time. And we were given choices of a couple other side trips during our drive from one city to another! We would definitely come back!!!

+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Nairobi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

How far in advance should I book 4 Days Budget Safari to Maasai Mara only from Nairobi?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Nairobi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Nairobi and add a light layer if any part of the 96-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Nairobi?
+
On Outty we rank every Nairobi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include 3 days group joining safari to Maasai Mara with a Land Cruiser Jeep, 1 Day trip to Hells Gate and optional Lake Naivasha From Nairobi, Nairobi Masai village Day Tour Experience. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Nairobi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Nairobi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
