Not What I Expected
While there were some highlights to this tour, I am writing this review to share my experience and warn others of what to expect. My chief complaint is that the tour was advertised as being capped at 25 people. There were ~45+ people on our boat. My wife and I had booked this tour because we wanted a smaller group size and had read about the horror stories of the 75+ on tours. When we got to the snorkeling part of the adventure, we were asked to stay in a tight group, so it was hard to see anything but the splash of the persons kick in front of you. Even worse, I was accidentally pushed into some sharp coral, and got cuts on my hand and stomach. there was some medical attention given to me on the boat, but ultimately, I bled through my shirt and was forced to buy bandages and a new shirt at Isle Mujeres. I have requested a partial refund to help over the cost of these supplies. What also is even more irritating, is that once we got to isle Mujeres, My wife and I were trying to get to a pharmacy to fix/stop the bleeding, but the tour operators said we needed to go get a bracelet to get back on the boat, which was fine, but the bracelet was in a sliver/tequila tasting/gift shop. We were like read the room, I am bleeding through my shirt and want to deal with it. We didn’t want to be sold something. other complaints: 1. The transport told us they would be there at 8:30 AM. they showed up at 8 AM and acted like told us we needed to be quick. We had to throw some stuff in our bag and race down. 2. the transport back was 30 minutes late getting to the dock. Then we were the last ones dropped off and the operator didn’t know where our hotel was and we had to tell him where our hotel was. 3. Tips. this is advertised as an all inclusive. I don’t want to be asked for a tip for food, and then for our operators and then for the drivers especially when the service was subpar or not as advertised. We tipped the food on Contoy though. 4. They do the tour backwards from advertised. they go to Isle Contoy 2nd and Isle Mujeres first. 5. lunch isn’t until 3PM as a result of doing the tour backwards from advertised. they did warn us of this when we got to the marina, and told us to buy a snack at Isle Mujeres, but I had already spent $355 USD (plus tax) on the day, I didn’t want to spend more just because they changed the tour order the day of and we could not eat before we left because they arrived 30 minutes before they were scheduled to (see #1 above).
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We genuinely regret that parts of the tour did not meet your expectations and that you had an uncomfortable situation during the snorkeling activity. First, we would like to clarify that the group size on your tour was within our stated limits. There were 27 people on board in total, including crew members, which is consistent with what we advertise. Regarding the snorkeling incident, all participants join this activity voluntarily and are responsible for their own safety in the water. Conditions such as movement in the sea and proximity to others can vary, especially in natural environments. That said, our team is always present to assist, and as you mentioned, first aid and medical attention were provided promptly on board. We understand that the situation with your injury and having to replace personal items was frustrating. However, personal incidents of this nature and related expenses are outside the scope of our responsibility. We truly regret that this affected your experience, and we appreciate your feedback as it helps us continue improving our service. We hope that despite this situation, you were able to enjoy some aspects of the tour, and we sincerely wish you a much smoother experience in your future travels. Kind regards, Guido

NOT WORTH IT
Was supposed to be a group of 25 max and in english. It's still ongoing and so far i would NOT recommend at all. We're in a group of about 40 people and the guide speak about 75% Spanish and 25% English, catering to the majoritythat speaks spanish. At Isla mujeres we were told by the guide we could sit on long chairs if we ordered food but then at the restaurant they told us we had to each order food and drinks or pay for the chairs. So far a lot of the information was misleading. We paid 250$ CAD each for that excursion and I was really looking forward to it but now I regret going. The excursion last a total of 12 hrs but they feed you (included) only around 4 pm so you gotta pay extra if you usually eat more than once a day. NOT WORTH THE MONEY
Response from the operator: It seems you didn't read the tour description carefully! We have bilingual guides, so it's not true that they don't speak English. Then, Isla Mujeres is a short 40-minute trip, with 1 hour of free time! You can do whatever you want... we offer a beach club with lounge chairs and umbrellas for $5, but that's all. However, you have to pay for it yourself; it's not included. Lunch is at 2-3 pm because Contoye is far from Isla Mujeres, and we arrive at that time. Also, there are other groups on the island, and there are different meal times to keep things organized! If you want to eat at the time you want, you could book a private, personalized tour. That would be ideal for you. Best regards, Guido

Great tour
I enjoyed this tour. The snorkeling was my favourite part, there were lots of fish where we were taken. The gear is new and worked well. The time on Isla Mujeres wasn't very long, I recommend setting a timer for yourself. I did the tequila tasting and then went to the beach for a swim and the time flew by! The drink service on the boat was great and the food on Isla Contoy was delicious. I would have liked to see more of the island but the beach we did go to was stunning with lovely warm water.
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for your comments and for the trust you have placed in us. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the tours in Cancun! For your next trip to Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Dominican Republic or Mexico count on us! =) Best regards, Guido. ParaViajantes Riviera Maya

Why this scores 66
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
2x1 Tour: Isla Contoy, Isla Mujeres, Open Bar, Lunch and Transfers: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Playa del Carmen.
How much does 2x1 Tour: Isla Contoy, Isla Mujeres, Open Bar, Lunch and Transfers cost?
+
Prices start at $185 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Playa del Carmen usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 2x1 Tour: Isla Contoy, Isla Mujeres, Open Bar, Lunch and Transfers take?
+
Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Playa del Carmen is not rushed.
Is 2x1 Tour: Isla Contoy, Isla Mujeres, Open Bar, Lunch and Transfers worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 36 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Playa del Carmen, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 2x1 Tour: Isla Contoy, Isla Mujeres, Open Bar, Lunch and Transfers?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 2x1 Tour: Isla Contoy, Isla Mujeres, Open Bar, Lunch and Transfers suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 2x1 Tour: Isla Contoy, Isla Mujeres, Open Bar, Lunch and Transfers?
+
Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Playa del Carmen can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Playa del Carmen and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 2x1 Tour: Isla Contoy, Isla Mujeres, Open Bar, Lunch and Transfers start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Playa del Carmen within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Playa del Carmen?
+
On Outty we rank every Playa del Carmen experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include VIP Chichen Itza Private Tour, VIP Tulum Private Tour, Chichen Itza Private Tour VIP. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Playa del Carmen?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Playa del Carmen?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
