Great tour of Yosemite that lets you see what you want!

This turned out to be a very good experience. We did have one little hiccup that I found annoying, but the overall experience was great and our guide Nicolas was fantastic. So let's talk about the tour. That was the whole reason for this trip and it did not disappoint. Nicolas, our guide, was very communicative before, during, and after the tour. He was super flexible and made sure we got to see the things we wanted (weather permitting). He brought a large vehicle which we needed because one of us was in a wheelchair. When we told him we didn't know anything and were hoping to see everything we could, he checked the weather and figured out a route that would let us stay as dry and warm as possible while still seeing a lot. Within 30 minutes we knew we had a great guide. Our family jokes around a lot and Nicolas figured that out and jumped right in. He also made sure my aunt got to experience as much as possible with her eyesight failing. He made sure we stayed hydrated and got food and gift shops aplenty. We are not a hiking group and he understood that. Still - on day 2 - we got a pretty big walk in and saw so many parts of the valley. Along the way Nicolas told us stories and made sure we came away with a ton of great photos. I just can't say enough about how good he was with us and especially my aunt. Top scores to Nicolas!!! Now let's talk about the minor annoyance: I wish the agent had been clearer about our hotel options when booking this tour. I think he was protecting the tour operator's hotel bookings. I get that this counts toward the bottom line, but in our booking conversation I was confused and looking for guidance. He listened and took my criteria down, but then booked things without confirming with me. What's more, he couldn't book all the nights we wanted because we wanted to arrive the day before the first tour. This meant he had to wait until the hotel offered the other nights. This was stressful for me. Also, I'm kind of picky when it comes to booking hotels. I like to look at a lot of room reviews and choose just the right place to stay. When I booked through Golden Horizon Tours (aka Yosemite Tours), this did not seem like an option. Having never been to Yosemite before, I decided to trust them to make it work. The hotel they chose was the Yosemite View Lodge which sits on 140 just outside the park's west entrance. Let me be clear. We had no problem with the hotel. This hotel is fine. It's is not excellent or amazing. It's basically like an older Holiday Inn Express. The beds are comfortable and the AC and heat work. The bathrooms are comfortable and functional. The view of the Merced river from the room is pretty awesome. The gift shop has everything you might want in terms of food, beverage, and souvenirs and it's open late (till 11 PM when we stayed in April 2026). The staff are super friendly and housekeeping is very capable. There are also a couple of restaurants on site - one doing regular meals and the other a pizzeria. The main restaurant was fine. Nothing great, but perfectly fine for breakfast and dinner. The pizzeria was surprisingly good. So why was I bummed about the hotel? I had a moment of FOMO during our trip when we visited the Ahwahnee hotel for lunch. That place looks pretty iconic and the prices weren't significantly higher when I was shopping. I can't say if I would have liked the rooms better or not, but I know I would have liked the dining and the facilities more. I would still book my tour with Golden Horizon again, but I might insist on staying at Ahwahnee just to be in that location. Of course, I might hate the smaller rooms or something, so who knows. Like I said, it was a minor annoyance.

Response from the operator: Dear David, Thank you again for choosing our company for your Yosemite adventure and for taking the time to leave such a detailed review about our Yosemite Private tour package. We truly appreciate your business and are especially happy to hear that Nicolas made such a positive impact on your Yosemite National Park private experience. We will gladly pass along your kind compliments to him, as he genuinely cares about creating memorable and comfortable experiences for every guest. We put a lot of time and effort into selecting and training our tour guides. They are top-shelf professionals and are truly hard to find these days. We are also very pleased to hear that your family enjoyed Yosemite National Park spring scenery, flexibility of the private tour itinerary, storytelling, photo opportunities, and the personalized care provided throughout the trip — especially regarding your aunt’s comfort and accessibility needs. We would also like to politely clarify a few points regarding the hotel portion of your review, as there appears to be a MISUNDERSTANDING. With all due respect, it seems there may have been some confusion about how our lodging arrangements work on our website. As clearly stated on our website, our company specializes in private tour experiences, and the hotel inclusion is offered as a courtesy service to help simplify trip planning and save our guests’ valuable time. We do not work on commission with hotels, nor do we limit guests from choosing their own accommodation. In fact, we also offer private tour packages without hotel inclusion, specifically for guests who prefer to personally select and book their preferred lodging, and we encourage that. Our Yosemite tour packages are advertised with carefully selected 3-diamond accommodations in order to keep the overall tour pricing more accessible and reasonable for most travelers. We also clearly mention on our website that The Ahwahnee is Not part of this tour package and never was, as it would require a significant upgrade at an additional cost; for that reason, we do not include or offer it as part of the standard package. The Ahwahnee is the only luxury hotel located inside Yosemite Valley, and it is often booked up many months — sometimes up to a year — in advance. In addition, staying there generally requires a substantial price upgrade up to an additional cost, often several hundred dollars more per night and per room. Since your tour was booked approximately three months before arrival, availability inside Yosemite Valley was already extremely limited. The alternative hotel options available at that time were available in areas like Oakhurst , but that would have required approximately 90 minutes of driving each way to Yosemite Valley — nearly three additional hours of driving per day. For this reason, we worked very hard behind the scenes to secure what we believed was the best available option in terms of comfort, accessibility, convenience, and proximity to the park. This is not something that can simply be booked overnight, as availability is extremely limited and often requires continuous follow-ups due to high demand. Once the reservation was secured, we promptly informed you of the hotel details and also upgraded your stay to a riverfront room rather than a standard mountainside room at no additional charge. For that we don’t understand the comment about this point either. We always strive to be transparent throughout the booking process, and the hotel details, accommodation categories, policies, and upgrade information are outlined on all pages of our website, in our correspondence, and in the confirmation documents we provide to guests. That said, we genuinely appreciate your feedback and understand that some travelers prefer to personally research and select accommodations themselves. We are always happy to accommodate such preferences whenever possible. Thank you again for your business and for allowing us to be part of your family’s Yosemite experience. We truly appreciate it and wish you and your family many more wonderful adventures ahead. Should you need any further assistance, don't hesitate to contact us. 2-Day Private Yosemite Tour: Waterfalls, Sequoias and Glacier Pt: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for San Francisco.

How much does 2-Day Private Yosemite Tour: Waterfalls, Sequoias and Glacier Pt cost?

    +

Prices start at $899 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in San Francisco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 2-Day Private Yosemite Tour: Waterfalls, Sequoias and Glacier Pt take?

    +

Plan for about 48 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in San Francisco is not rushed.

Is 2-Day Private Yosemite Tour: Waterfalls, Sequoias and Glacier Pt worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in San Francisco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 2-Day Private Yosemite Tour: Waterfalls, Sequoias and Glacier Pt?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is 2-Day Private Yosemite Tour: Waterfalls, Sequoias and Glacier Pt suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 48-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 2-Day Private Yosemite Tour: Waterfalls, Sequoias and Glacier Pt?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in San Francisco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in San Francisco and add a light layer if any part of the 48-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 2-Day Private Yosemite Tour: Waterfalls, Sequoias and Glacier Pt start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central San Francisco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in San Francisco?

    +

San Francisco packs Alcatraz, Muir Woods, Napa and the bay into day-trip range, which makes booking order matter more than anywhere else in the US. Alcatraz sells out weeks ahead, wine-country vans fill on weekends, and the best food walks in the Mission and Chinatown cap at a dozen people. Our ranking favours small groups and guides who live in the neighbourhood they walk. On Outty we rank every San Francisco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small Group Yosemite and Giant Sequoias Day Trip from San Francisco, Golden Gate Bridge Muir Woods Sausalito with Optional Alcatraz, Chinatown, North Beach, Little Italy: 7 Tastings & History. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit San Francisco?

    +

September and October, the city's real summer, once the fog season breaks. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in San Francisco?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
