If you wanna see Ghana and its birdlife - they are THE company to go with
Just ended a private 15 day Bird-photography tour and it was perfect in every aspect. The organization and communication with Ashanti booking office upfront has been timely, accurate and relevant every time. The knowledge and skill of Philip Senyo, our guide, was truly impressive and his dedication outstanding. Stephen was an excellent driver and support throughout and the car provided was comfortable and spacious. If you wanna see Ghana and its birdlife - they are THE company to go with

Great trip!
Great ground operator and a fantastic local bird guide. We stayed in good accommodations and the driver for the trip was very safe. All the contacts with the operator runned very smooth. A minus before the trip was the too complicated system to apply for a Visa. I mixed of modern e-visa and traditional paperwork. Rather old fashioned. Must improve!
Response from the operator: Dear Traveler, Thank you for reviewing Ashanti African Tours on TripAdvisor. We appreciate your time and effort in reviewing us after your 15 day private Wildlife tour. Your kind words helps us to strive to improve on our services to all our clients. On behalf of Ashanti African Tours, I wish you well and we do hope to see you again soon on our other destination tours of Togo, Benin, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Ethiopia, Sao Tome and Principe. Lacks Communication Skills
This was a Rockjumper Mega Tour with Ashanti as the local guide who was Phillip Senyo. He was excellent at spotting and identifying birds but seriously lacking at communicating their location. He is very soft spoken with a heavy accent and often spoke to us facing the other direction. At least 50% of the time I had to ask him to repeat what he said. Also, he had significant body odor much of the time. Most of the "hotels" lacked hot showers and the food was uniformly boring. He did provide fresh fruit every day which was excellent. He often ignored my requests for help with seeing birds that I had missed previously on the tour. He projected and attitude that once he found a species, he really didn't care about helping his clients see it - leaving that to the Rockjumper guide (Quintin Paul Josop) who was very inexperienced and had never been to Ghana before!
Response from the operator: Dear Terence, Thank you for your feedback from your recent tour with Rockjumper that was co-led by our guide Philip Senyo on TripAdvisor. I would firstly like to thank you for taking the time to give your feedback as we are always looking to improve our services and we take the standard of our tours and leaders very seriously. As you can see in 131 reviews 128 being excellent, 2 being Very good and your review being our only poor experience we have taken the time to sit down with Philip and try to understand what went wrong for you. During our investigations Philip mentioned that the group were mainly bird watchers and you were a bird photographer. In our experience it is always difficult to keep all of the participants happy when some want to see as many birds as possible and some want to take time to photograph birds. We always advise clients to either book a birdwatching tour or a bird photography tour to ensure the guide can solely focus on the participants areas of interest. Philip mentioned your hearing was not the best and you were always at the back of the group with your camera. Philip has mentioned he wished he had sat down with you to suggest you move closer to him and the front of the group. Philip also mentioned when you would miss photographing a bird you would ask him to play the call again to see it again which frustrated several of the group as everyone had already seen it. Philip mentioned he would always call you to the bird but you either struggled to hear him or would struggle to photograph the species. Regarding Philip ignoring your requests to try to find birds everyone else had seen well and you had missed, Philip mentioned you would sometimes ask him to show him a bird you had missed in areas that it is not present as such he could not call the bird as it was the wrong location and habitat. He apologises if you felt at these times that he was ignoring you as this was not the case it was due to it being the wrong area and habitat. Philip wishes he had been clearer in explaining this to you. I would like to personally add in 16 years Philip has led tours for us he has never had a single negative feedback, most participants describing him as an excellent leader and one of the best. His English is also excellent and he is clearly spoken. An important point to remember is that when looking for wildlife in the forest it’s important not to make too much noise as you will scare it away and not see anything. Maybe this is why Philip was not speaking loudly in the forest. Every other participant on this tour said Philip was excellent so we are sorry you did not feel the same. Regarding your personal attack on Philip’s odour I and all 55 of my colleagues can confirm after working in the same office for the past 16 years with Philip, we have never noticed an unpleasant odour and our guides all take personal hygiene very seriously. This is part of our training and this remark has deeply upset and embarrassed Philip. Apparently there were several locations you mentioned smelled bad during your tour and none of the other participants, international leader or our leader Philip agreed with you. Looking through your previous reviews I notice this is something you have mentioned before. I was informed you mentioned one of the rooms smelt and asked to change with the international leader who could not smell anything, neither could any of the workers at the lodge or the manager. We are sorry you also did not enjoy the food during your tour and we will speak with the hotels to see how we can try to improve this for future trips. Birding locations are usually remote and it is a challenge getting a wide varied menu as we have in the bigger cities. Again I would like to thank you for the feedback as we are always trying to improve. As a gesture from our company, If you ever decide to return to Ghana we would be happy to organise a Birding and Nature Photography tour for you and offer you a significant discounted price. We wish you all the best for the future. Have a wonderful day. With best regards, Patience Dadzie (Marketing Director)

outstanding tour
We have used Ashanti Africa before and they are excellent. We have been to Kakum with them; this time it was Ankasa and Nyamebe Bepo. Our guide Philip Senyo is excellent and knows all about birds and butterflies, not to mention his skill in getting a team organized to find a pangolin.
Response from the operator: Dear Charles, Thank you for your review about Ashanti African Tours on TripAdvisor. It was a great pleasure to host you during your private 15 day Ghana Wildlife Tour with us. Your guide Philip and the entire team at Ashanti are happy to hear this and we wish you well in your next trip. 15-Day Ghana Wildlife Private Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Accra.
How much does 15-Day Ghana Wildlife Private Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $4,995 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Accra usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 15-Day Ghana Wildlife Private Tour take?
+
Plan for about 360 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Accra is not rushed.
Is 15-Day Ghana Wildlife Private Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Accra, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 15-Day Ghana Wildlife Private Tour?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is 15-Day Ghana Wildlife Private Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 360-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 15-Day Ghana Wildlife Private Tour?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Accra can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Accra and add a light layer if any part of the 360-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 15-Day Ghana Wildlife Private Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Accra within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Accra?
+
On Outty we rank every Accra experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Experience the Beauty, History and the Culture Of Accra in a Day, Cape Coast Castle, Elmina Castle & Kakum National Park Day Tour, Accra Guided City Tour: Cultural and Historical Experience. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Accra?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Accra?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
What is included in 15-Day Ghana Wildlife Private Tour?
+
Included: Expert local guide (24/7); 24/7 Office support; Air-conditioned vehicle; Lunch; and Dinner. Not included: International flights; Soft and alcoholic drinks; and Visa. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.
Does 15-Day Ghana Wildlife Private Tour include hotel pickup?
+
Yes, pickup is offered for every traveler from 227 listed pickup locations in and around Accra. Be ready about 30 minutes before the start time.
What languages is 15-Day Ghana Wildlife Private Tour offered in?
+
It runs in English. Pick your language when choosing a date and time, as not every departure runs in every language.
Will I get instant confirmation and a mobile ticket for 15-Day Ghana Wildlife Private Tour?
+
