The monument to the proud women of the Pindos In November 1940, the Greek soldiers had been fortified in the mountains and were fighting in the area of Vrysochori. Due to the distance from Zagori, the nearest village, they faced serious problems with their supply of ammunition food and water, however.The women of Zagori actively participated in the war with their timely supplies to the Greek forces that were fighting to stop the fascist invaders, who were trying to reach Metsovo through the valley of Aoos.

Bridge of Plakidas
Plakidas bridge is spotted close to Kipi and Koukouli villages in the area of Central Zagori. For years on end it served the residents of the two villages in their transportation and rural activities. It stands out for its unique architecture, as it is one of the few three-stringer bridges that exist, so there is no wonder that it is one of the most photographed bridges in Zagori. In the beginning the bridge was wooden, however with the contribution of Serafeim, the abbot of Kipi’s Monastery, it was reconstructed with stone. Because of that, the bridge was named “Kalogeriko”, which means “of the abbot”. After 1865 it was repaired by Alexis Plakidas, to whom it owes its current name.

A wonderful day trip to the Vikos Gorge
Well organized bus trip to the gorge, beautiful vistas. The bridges and the statue to the women of the resistance in WW2 are also impressive. Enthusiastic guide Yvonne gives good information with beautiful stories. Light lunch included.

Fantastic Experience
This tour is extremely informative relating to the history of the region, many breathtaking views and quaint walks. Must be able to walk over rough terrains to truly get the most out of the tour. Our guide Yvonne and driver Demetri made the experience perfect!

Great Nature
The bustrip took us high into the mountains where we saw the most breathtaking nature. We had a longer stop in the charming mountain village of Monodendri, where we had time to stroll around and soak in the atmosphere. Lunch (included) was served at a local hotel and featured a regional specialty – chicken pie – which was delicious.

Vikos at a glance
A lot seen in 1 trip! I was really amazed by the Vikos Gorge. Could have stared at it for an hour! Because of the many stops, the time per stop was relatively short. But I'm glad I've seen so much beauty
