Unique cultural immersion into ramen making

The ramen tour with Akiko was one of the highlights of my trip to Japan! Akiko-san was communicative from the time I booked my tour and she guided me on where to purchase kombu. Coming back to the tour, Akiko first took me to her family’s ramen factory which is currently being run by her brother Takka-san who provided a brief history of ramen and the way to make it. It was thrilling to get to choose a dough and make ramen, which ultimately Akiko-san prepared for dinner. I have done food tours in other countries but this one was so filled with warmth and hospitality, that I felt like a friend by the end of the evening.

Response from the operator: Dear Archana-san, Arigato gozaimasu for your wonderful and heartwarming review. I am so happy to hear that our ramen experience became one of the highlights of your trip to Japan. It was also a very special time for me and my family to welcome you to our family’s ramen factory and our home. I was especially touched by your words that you felt like a friend by the end of the evening. This made me very happy, because I always hope my guests can feel at home and enjoy the time with us like friends. Thank you again for spending such a wonderful time with us. Taka and I truly hope to see you again someday. Please come back to Yokohama anytime! ❤️ Warm regards, Akiko

Really worth to visit!!!

This experience was incredible!!! We could learn how to make Rame noodles at first, and we moved to her home(Just 10min walk from the noodles factory!!!) and made Ramen, dumplings, and salad as well! We enjoyed cooking and talking with lovely host, Akiko San. She is really cute and kind of providing us some cooking tips and advice! 🥹🥹🥹After cooking, we enjoyed having a dinner together with her family members. It was really memorable experience for me. If you have a chance to visit Yokohama, you should check it!!! 🍜

Response from the operator: Dear Yuri-san, Arigato gozaimasu for your wonderful review! I’m especially happy because I know you are a popular guide in Kanazawa who welcomes guests from many different countries. Receiving such kind words from a fellow host and guide means the world to me. It was such a pleasure cooking, chatting, and sharing dinner with you. Thank you for bringing your warm smile and lovely energy into our home. I’ve never been to Kanazawa, but meeting you made me want to visit even more! I hope I can explore your beautiful city in the near future. You are always welcome back to Yokohama, and I hope our paths cross again soon. Warm regards, Akiko

Authentic, delicious, and unforgettable

This experience was an absolute highlight on our Japan trip and is a memory we will fondly look back on. Akiko-san and her brother, Taka-san, made us feel very welcomed, showed us the process of making Ramen noodles in great depth and answered every question we had. Cooking and eating our own delicious Ramen later at Akiko-san's home was the perfect ending to an already amazing day. If you want to experience authentic local culture, learn about types of ramen noodles, or just love eating great food - do yourself a favor and book this. We would do it again in a heartbeat!

Response from the operator: Dear Tobias-san, Arigato gozaimasu for your kind and thoughtful review. Reading your words truly warmed our hearts. We are so happy to hear that our ramen adventure became one of the highlights of your trip to Japan and a memory that you will look back on fondly. It was a pleasure for Taka and me to spend the day with you, sharing our family’s noodle-making traditions and welcoming you into our home. We are delighted that you enjoyed learning about ramen, making your own noodles, and sharing a meal together around our family table. One of the greatest joys of hosting is meeting wonderful people from around the world, and we feel very grateful that our paths crossed. Your curiosity, enthusiasm, and warm smiles made the experience special for us as well. Thank you again for choosing to spend part of your Japan journey with our family. We hope that whenever you enjoy a bowl of ramen in the future, it will bring back happy memories of Yokohama, our noodle factory, and the time we shared together. We wish you many more wonderful adventures and happiness wherever your travels take you. You will always be welcome in our home. Warm regards, Akiko

美味しい日本の家庭料理と温かい交流も楽しめる体験

Ramen Adventure is a very special experience because you can actually visit a noodle factory. You can learn in detail about ramen noodles and even try making them yourself. It is not just a cooking experience; it is also a wonderful opportunity to interact with Akiko and the other guests. Akiko’s home was warm and beautiful, with lovely details such as tableware, chopstick rests, and a decorative obi. It was a wonderful space where you could feel genuine Japanese hospitality. Akiko and her family were very friendly, and their two adorable dogs made the experience even more heartwarming. I highly recommend this experience to ramen lovers, anyone interested in Japanese home culture, and travelers who want to connect with local people during their trip. I think it is a valuable and lovely experience for both Japanese guests and visitors from overseas.

Response from the operator: Dear Junko-san, Thank you SO much for your beautiful bilingual review! I was especially happy that you noticed the small details in my home, such as the chopstick rests and tableware from my grandmother, who used to teach cooking, and my mother’s obi decorations. They are very special to my family, so your kind words truly touched my heart. I’m also so glad you enjoyed not only making ramen, but also the time shared with everyone together 😊 Thank you again for your warmth and support. Warm regards, Akiko

A Genuine and Delicious Cultural Experience

Akiko’s Ramen experience was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan! We not only learned about the process behind one of our favorite foods, but we also got a valuable insight into Akiko’s culture and life in Japan. Her family’s hospitality blew us away, and we felt warm and welcome from the first moments of the experience. How long does Yokohama Ramen Adventure near Tokyo: From Factory to Home Cooking take?

+

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 83 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 77 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Yokohama, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Yokohama and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Yokohama?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Yokohama?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
