    Delicious, authentic and so fun!

We met our guide, Buren, for a morning tour of the Muslim Quarter in Xi’an on a Thursday. We started off our morning in a TukTuk, and our first stop introduced us to a most delicious beef pancake at a tiny shop in one of the many alleyways of the Muslim Quarter. Buren was a wonderful guide. He shared stories about the history of the Muslim Quarter, the local shop owners and the history of the food we were eating. He also took us through the Muslim Quarter market, which is only open two days a week (and we were fortunate that our tour was on one of those days). We made 5 stops in all, and they were all well-chosen and delicious. I only wish our stomachs could have held more room for all of the wonderful things we tried. Buren and Lost Plate made this tour one of our standout experiences in Xi’an. Highly recommend!

Response from the operator: Thank you for spending your Thursday morning with us in Xian. We are happy Buren could show you around the market and introduce you to those alleyway beef pancakes.

Authentic intro to local breakfast scene

Highly recommend this breakfast tour. Our guide Buren was lovely, knowledgeable about Xi'an’s food culture, and took us to some great hidden gems, including a fascinating walk through the biweekly local market. It was an authentic introduction to the city’s breakfast scene. He was also a great help when we wanted to look for chili at the local market and even shared with us a couple of recipes for chili oil later. Thanks for sharing with us your passion for XI’AN food!

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the breakfast tour and found it to be an authentic introduction to Xi’an’s food culture. We’re glad our guide could assist you and make the experience memorable for you. If you return to Xi’an, we’d be happy to welcome you again!

    Morning cultural immersion!

Great immersion into the morning taste buds and shopping of the locals. A great combination of walks and tuk tuk rides. The best was the grand finale of sour soup dumplings. Jane, the tour guide, was most helpful and knowledgeable in showing us around.

Response from the operator: Thank you, Audrey, for sharing your experience! We're thrilled you enjoyed the tour and found the mix of activities and flavors delightful. Jane will be pleased to know her guidance and expertise made your time memorable. 😊 We hope to welcome you back for more adventures!

Xi'an Morning Food & Market Tour by TukTuk: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Xian.

How much does Xi'an Morning Food & Market Tour by TukTuk cost?

    +

Prices start at $41 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Xian usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Xi'an Morning Food & Market Tour by TukTuk take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Xian is not rushed.

Is Xi'an Morning Food & Market Tour by TukTuk worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 83 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 55 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Xian, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Xi'an Morning Food & Market Tour by TukTuk?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Xi'an Morning Food & Market Tour by TukTuk suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Xi'an Morning Food & Market Tour by TukTuk?

    +

Around 19 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Xian can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Xian and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Xi'an Morning Food & Market Tour by TukTuk start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Xian within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Xian?

    +

On Outty we rank every Xian experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Xi'an Day Tour: Terracotta Army&Optional City Attractions, All-Inclusive Terracotta Army Tour with Premium Buffet Lunch, 2-Day Customized Warriors Tours & Xian Top Attractions. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Xian?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Xian?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
