    Fantastic experience!

This trip was fantastic! It takes about 20 minutes to get out far enough to see the whales. It’s pretty choppy so if you have motion sickness, take Dramamine. I don’t always do well in boats, so I took Dramamine. Very glad I did. There were only about 25 people on the boat. Everyone is on the lookout for whales. We ended up seeing 5 total, including baby whales with their mamas. Soooo awesome! Captain Andy was great, along with Kenna. They made the trip more enjoyable. I would do it again in a heartbeat!! Thank you!

Response from the operator: Aloha JoKoss, That’s awesome! We’re so glad you were able to join one of our final whale watching trips of the season. It’s great to hear the whales showed up, and that Captain Andrew and Kaikena helped make the experience truly memorable. We’d love to have you back again soon for another adventure! :)

Very proffesional, Captains commited to finding whales even thus late in the season, Late March. Also guarantee for another trip id no whales, which we used.

Response from the operator: Aloha, Really appreciate you pointing that out—our captains put in the work every trip, especially late in the season when the whales start getting a little harder to track down. Glad you were able to take advantage of the redo and get back out there—that’s exactly why we offer it 🤙 Mahalo for joining us, and hope we get to have you out again soon!

    We were in Kauai toward...

We were in Kauai toward the end of March and we did 2 tours with Captain J’s one a snorkeling tour up the NaPali coast and one a whale watching. Both were fantastic. We had rough conditions going up the coast and our captain did fantastic with it all. On the whale tour we were on the tail end of them being in the area, so it was a search, but we found some as well as dolphins. It was a beautiful day. On both trips we were lucky to have great captains and we happened to have Matt as well and he was wonderful. Very informative and helpful at the same time. We would go out with Captain J again. We highly recommend them for your next tour.

Response from the operator: Aloha, Sounds like you got a little bit of everything—classic Napali adventure conditions and a successful whale hunt to top it off 🤙 That’s the kind of combo we love to hear about. Late-season whales can definitely turn into a bit of a search mission, so stoked the crew was able to track some down for you (and dolphins too—bonus!). And yeah, when the ocean decides to show off, having a skilled captain makes all the difference. We’ll be sure Matt hears this—he’s awesome at keeping things fun while making sure everyone’s taken care of. Mahalo for joining us on both tours, and we’d be pumped to have you back out again anytime!

    The best day!

It was an incredible day!! We saw about 15 whales and hundreds of dolphins! I had been whale watching in Maine but never in Hawaii! It was such a special day! Thank you to the crew for your efforts making it a great time for all of us!

Response from the operator: Aloha Jessica. Fifteen whales and hundreds of dolphins-- Talk about hitting the jackpot! We're stoked to hear your Hawai'i experience topped Maine! We're beyond stoked you had such a special time and we'll be sure to share your appreciation with the crew! Mahalo, Captain J's Kauai Offshore Adventure

    The highlight of our trip!

We’ve been on several whale watching excursions before but this was by far the funnest. The small boat was much faster and more nimble than larger vessels and made for prime viewing. Andrew and Mason were both professional and fun and made us feel welcome the minute we stepped on the boat. After a few safety instructions we were racing over the waves with classic rock playing in the background. We spotted a mother Humpback and her baby almost immediately and the day just kept getting better. While not a marine biologist, Captain Andrew was very knowledgeable and did an excellent job answering all of our questions. Mason kept the fun tunes and snacks going during the trip and made for a very enjoyable experience. If you’re looking for a purely educational experience, this may not be the trip for you. But if you like to mix fun with learning, definitley give them a call!

Response from the operator: Aloha Barbara, Whale watching, great music, and awesome vibes What better way to spend the day out at sea? Mahalo for joining us on the adventure! We'll be sure to let Captain Andrew & Crew Mason know just how much you enjoyed their company! We hope to welcome you back soon for another awesome experience. Winter Whale Watching Adventure in Kauai: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kauai.

How much does Winter Whale Watching Adventure in Kauai cost?

    +

Prices start at $137 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kauai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Winter Whale Watching Adventure in Kauai take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kauai is not rushed.

Is Winter Whale Watching Adventure in Kauai worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 355 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kauai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Winter Whale Watching Adventure in Kauai?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Winter Whale Watching Adventure in Kauai suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Winter Whale Watching Adventure in Kauai?

    +

Around 124 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kauai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kauai and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Winter Whale Watching Adventure in Kauai start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kauai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kauai?

    +

Kauai sells Na Pali Coast boat and helicopter tours, Waimea Canyon drives, tubing through old plantation ditches and Hanalei kayak trips. Ocean conditions shut down the north shore boat runs in winter, so cancellation terms matter. On Outty we rank every Kauai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Koloa Zipline in Kauai, Kauai: NaPali Boat Tour on the Amelia K, Kauai: Secret Falls Kayak and Hike. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kauai?

    +

April to June and September to October, with calmest seas in summer. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kauai?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
