About this experience
This tour is private and fully customizable - hike as much or as little as you want in the time we have. If you would prefer more of a driving tour to spectacular lookouts instead, we can do that. Accessible only by foot, our 6 - 7 hour Waimea Canyon & Nāpali Cliff Top Hike is designed to give you amazing views thousands of feet above the ocean! While these hikes can be muddy, you will be amply rewarded for your effort with sweeping views of Waimea Canyon and the most dramatic middle sections of the famous 17-mile-long Nāpali Coast – from unique vantage points that can only be accessed from the cliff top ridges of Kōkeʻe State Park. Our mission -"sharing Kauaʻi’s beauty with aloha”- was forged in love and respect for this island’s abundant mana (life energy). Our local guides take you to some of their favorite spots, the places they enjoy exploring in their free time. We hope to inspire understanding, respect, and reverence for these sacred, often fragile, environments.

What you'll see and do
Waimea Canyon State Park
Driving east to west, you’ll witness a change in vegetation and climate as you transition into the “rain shadow,” characterized by the arid farmland of the island’s leeward side (on the opposite side of mountains from typical trade wind direction). Along the way, we’ll pass through the agricultural towns of Hanapēpē and Waimea and learn the important role they played in Kauaʻi’s history. Your tour continues across the center of the island, winding along the rim of Waimea Canyon and to the North Shore, 4,000 feet (1,220 m) above the spectacular Nāpali Coast. Rainbow-colored canyon walls and cool mountain air create an otherworldly ambiance that’s unlike anything you’ve experienced. We will stop at a couple of the choicest Waimea Canyon overlooks, including one with a view of 800-foot Waipo’o Falls, before beginning our ridge hike from one of the trailheads in Kōkeʻe State Park or Waimea Canyon SP (depending on your private group and local conditions).

just WRONG....
The Tour operator canceled at the last minute (the morning of), and I have not yet received a full refund. 4 weeks later. DO NOT TRUST THIS OPERATOR......
Response from the operator: We’re sorry for the disruption to your plans. On that morning, a serious highway accident blocked access to the area and prevented our guide from reaching you despite leaving early. We reached out right away to try to reschedule, and when that wasn’t possible, we issued a full refund to your booking platform the same day. On April 8, we also followed up directly with Viator to confirm that the refund had been processed on our end and to ensure it was being passed through correctly. In some cases, third-party bookings can take additional time for the refund to reach the original form of payment. That said, we agree it shouldn’t take this long and will continue to follow up to make sure everything is completed properly. We appreciate your patience and apologize again for the inconvenience.

Amazing and unforgettable
Amazing experience on all counts! We did several majestic hikes on the West part of the Island in just a few hours. Jeremiah, our guide, was tremendous. The ages ranged from 4 to 75 and he adapted all our hikes accordingly.
Response from the operator: Mahalo for the kind words. We’re so glad the experience felt memorable for everyone and that the day worked well across such a wide range of ages. Adapting the pace and route so that everyone feels comfortable, engaged, and included is a big part of what we aim for on private hikes. Thank you for choosing to spend your time with us, and we really appreciate you sharing your experience.

An experience you MUST experience! 😍
Wow, just wow! 🤩 This hike was one of the most beautiful experiences of our lives. Our guide Jeremiah deserves all the praise, he was fun, so knowledgeable, and endlessly patient. By the end of the day we didn’t just feel guided, we felt like we’d made a new best friend. Can’t wait for round two with this company! I promise this is something you need to do while here ♥️
Response from the operator: Mahalo so much for this kind review. We’re really glad the day felt as special as it did and that the experience went beyond just a hike. Sharing Kauaʻi in a way that feels personal, unhurried, and meaningful is exactly what we hope for, so it means a lot to hear that it left such a strong impression. Thank you for choosing to spend your time with us, and we’d be happy to welcome you back anytime you’re ready for round two.

Hidden Gems is a misnomer…
“Hidden gems” is a misnomer - we had an expectation of actually seeing some hidden gems on the island. We told the outfitter that we wanted variety with a little hiking. Our guide was fully prepared to hike Waimea Canyon. When we asked about the waterfalls and turtles we expected to see he advised those are on another part of the island and we would be proceeding with the canyon. You would think for 6-7 hours we’d be able to see a few key spots of the canyon and then travel to another area to see the waterfalls, that our guide was happy to tell us how we could get there on our own. We paid good money for some canyon views we could have seen on our own. Save your money.
Response from the operator: Aloha Michelle, Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. I'm truly sorry to hear that the experience didn’t match what you were hoping for. After reviewing our communication, I can confirm that Anita from our team was in contact with you six times leading up to your tour, clearly outlining the itinerary as a private hike in Waimea Canyon and/or along the Nāpali Coast ridges — depending on conditions. The tour description also notes that while you’ll see Waipoʻo Falls (an 800-foot waterfall) from the canyon rim, this is a scenic overlook, not a hike-to-swim waterfall experience, which is only available on other parts of the island. Sea turtles, too, are found in coastal waters — not in the upland terrain of Waimea Canyon, which sits over 4,000 feet above sea level. Kauaʻi’s geography makes it impossible to cover all regions of the island in a single 6–7 hour tour without spending most of the time in the car. Our Hidden Gems hikes are designed to explore quieter, hard-to-reach areas within a single region — not to bounce from beach to canyon to waterfall, which would compromise the quality of the experience. Your guide came fully prepared for the tour that was described and confirmed, and it seems the disappointment stemmed from expectations that didn’t align with the actual tour content. That’s something we take seriously, and we’ve already reviewed how this tour is presented on third-party platforms to help avoid future misunderstandings. We appreciate the feedback and hope the rest of your time on Kauaʻi brought you moments of beauty and discovery. Mahalo, Kauai Hiking Tours

Why this scores 61
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
6-7 Hours Private Kauai's Hidden Gems Experience with Snacks: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kauai.
How much does 6-7 Hours Private Kauai's Hidden Gems Experience with Snacks cost?
+
Prices start at $980 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kauai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 6-7 Hours Private Kauai's Hidden Gems Experience with Snacks take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kauai is not rushed.
Is 6-7 Hours Private Kauai's Hidden Gems Experience with Snacks worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 45 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kauai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 6-7 Hours Private Kauai's Hidden Gems Experience with Snacks?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 6-7 Hours Private Kauai's Hidden Gems Experience with Snacks suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 6-7 Hours Private Kauai's Hidden Gems Experience with Snacks?
+
Around 16 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kauai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kauai and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 6-7 Hours Private Kauai's Hidden Gems Experience with Snacks start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kauai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kauai?
+
Kauai sells Na Pali Coast boat and helicopter tours, Waimea Canyon drives, tubing through old plantation ditches and Hanalei kayak trips. Ocean conditions shut down the north shore boat runs in winter, so cancellation terms matter. On Outty we rank every Kauai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Koloa Zipline in Kauai, Kauai: NaPali Boat Tour on the Amelia K, Kauai: Secret Falls Kayak and Hike. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kauai?
+
April to June and September to October, with calmest seas in summer. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kauai?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
