WINTER IN YELLOWSTONE
TOP TIER EXPERIENCE! From booking it with Debbie (who was super helpful and kind) to riding with Adam and John - this company is 5 stars from start to finish. Not only did we see tons of animals (and they made sure we did) but the guides were responsive to taking us on a spontaneous winter hike, to making sure we were never rushed, and from bending over backwards regarding our comfort...we truly loved our tour. And, I can't forget the hot chocolate break and the amazing lunch! The men rode with Adam (who is an animal expert) and us gals rode with John (who is a former park ranger and all around park expert). John truly made the experience memorable and we enjoyed our time with him. As a professional traveler and tour guide myself, I know quality when I see it. I highly recommend this company and tour!

So grateful!
Our guide was really great - low key, laid back but on target! We have been traveling to the Tetons/Yellowstone since 2007 and have never seen the wolves or mountain goats and he helped us find both! A picnic lunch viewing the goats even in the snow was so fun! The hot chocolate was the bomb as a side note but a nice treat when we’s been in the cold. So grateful we did this!

Ron was the best, we saw a ton of different wildlife.
We went out with Ron and he was awesome. Like any good guide he put us on the wildlife early and often. We really enjoyed our day with him. He put us on two huge grizzly bears that I don’t know how he spotted. Very knowledgeable about the area and easy to talk to. Lunch was good, we spent time eating in a picnic spot away from the crowds.

Amazing wildlife views
We really enjoyed our private wildlife excursion at Yellowstone, Ron was an excellent guide, he made sure our trip was both comfortable and enjoyable. Ron made sure we got the best wildlife views with using both binoculars and high powered scopes.

Wonderful Tour
We had an excellent tour today with JR. Communication the day before was great answering last minute questions concerning pick-up time, location and what we might need to bring. He was prompt picking us up to start a wonderful day. His knowledge concerning the park and wildlife was great. We saw Big Horn sheep, mountain goats, bison, black bears, pronghorn, wolves, coyotes, fox, Bald Eagles, hawks and sand hill cranes. He and my daughter talked photography most of the trip and he was able to share tips and tricks with her. Highly recommend a tour to get the most out of your Yellowstone vacation.

Why this scores 64
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Wildlife & Wolf Private Tour with Lunch: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Gardiner.
How much does Wildlife & Wolf Private Tour with Lunch cost?
+
Prices start at $1554 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Gardiner usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Wildlife & Wolf Private Tour with Lunch take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Gardiner is not rushed.
Is Wildlife & Wolf Private Tour with Lunch worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 18 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Gardiner, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Wildlife & Wolf Private Tour with Lunch?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Wildlife & Wolf Private Tour with Lunch suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Wildlife & Wolf Private Tour with Lunch?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Gardiner can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Gardiner and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Wildlife & Wolf Private Tour with Lunch start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Gardiner within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Gardiner?
+
Gardiner sits at Yellowstone's only year-round entrance: Mammoth Hot Springs tours, Lamar Valley wolf and bison safaris at dawn, rafting on the Yellowstone River and winter wildlife trips. On Outty we rank every Gardiner experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Montana Whitewater Half Day Raft Trip - Yellowstone River, 2 Hour Rafting on the Yellowstone River, Guided Yellowstone Wildlife Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Gardiner?
+
June to September, plus January to February for wolf watching. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Gardiner?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
