What you get
About this experience
Our Half Day Classic Raft trip begins at the northern border of Yellowstone National Park, right where the Gardiner River converges with the mighty Yellowstone River. This trip is fun for the whole family as we run Class 1-3 (water level dependent, call our office to ask about current river conditions) and take children as young as 6! Ride the waves at Bridge Waves, Man Eater, Loonie's and Boonie's Revenge, Queen of the Waters, and the KING! Take in the breathtaking view of Devil’s Slide. Float through some flat water stretches that are great for swimming and relaxing. This trip is great for first time rafters or family groups with wide age and ability ranges. This trip is 8 miles on the river, roughly 1-1.5 hours of on the water fun depending on water levels (CFS), and roughly 2.5-3 hours door-to-door. This includes gear up, gear down, and a short drive to and from the river, no more than 15 minutes total in the bus, round trip!

Wonderful Time!
We had a fantastic rafting adventure, largely thanks to our incredible guide! Maya was hilarious and brought some serious rafting skills to the river. She constantly pointed out interesting landmarks and local wildlife along the way, making the beautiful surroundings even more engaging. The Classic half-day excursion was the perfect length of time, and we lucked out with gorgeous 80-degree weather. Tearing through the rapids with just the right amount of splash was absolutely awesome!

Great Yellowstone rafting!
Great trip with family. We all loved it and our guide Gareth was amazing! We saw some wildlife on the 8 mile down the river. Suitable for all levels as of 8/24/26. River can always change but was in the lower side. Kids loved the swimming portion as well.

Montana Whitewater Half Day Raft Trip - Yellowstone River: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Gardiner.
How much does Montana Whitewater Half Day Raft Trip - Yellowstone River cost?
+
Prices start at $92 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Gardiner usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Montana Whitewater Half Day Raft Trip - Yellowstone River take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Gardiner is not rushed.
Is Montana Whitewater Half Day Raft Trip - Yellowstone River worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 93 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 461 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Gardiner, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.
Can I cancel or reschedule Montana Whitewater Half Day Raft Trip - Yellowstone River?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Montana Whitewater Half Day Raft Trip - Yellowstone River suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Montana Whitewater Half Day Raft Trip - Yellowstone River?
+
Around 161 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Gardiner can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Gardiner and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Montana Whitewater Half Day Raft Trip - Yellowstone River start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Gardiner within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Gardiner?
+
Gardiner sits at Yellowstone's only year-round entrance: Mammoth Hot Springs tours, Lamar Valley wolf and bison safaris at dawn, rafting on the Yellowstone River and winter wildlife trips. On Outty we rank every Gardiner experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include 2 Hour Rafting on the Yellowstone River, Private Yellowstone Tour: ICONIC Sites, Wildlife, Family Friendly Hikes + lunch, Guided Yellowstone Wildlife Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Gardiner?
+
June to September, plus January to February for wolf watching. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Gardiner?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
