Good first time experience.
It was a surprise bday excursion for my husband. He really enjoyed it. I would’ve enjoyed it more if I didn’t get so sea sick, even after preparing for it. The water was extremely choppy. Nonetheless, the crew was very kind and helpful and continued to check on us to make sure we were okay and if we needed anything. We saw whales, shark, and a rare fish. Very cool experience, but prepare for the choppy waters and bring a jacket. And don’t try to sit in the front of the boat if you get sick easily.

Whale of an Adventure
The team was nice but on the day we went at 130pm, the waves were very choppy, Several people got sick including my wife, even with taking the proper dosage of motion sickness pills at the proper time. That's how turbulent the sea was that afternoon. Nonetheless, we did see a small pod of whales, a couple of dolphins, and some sea otters. Additionally, After we got to Sea all that the Captain still decided to stay out there even though the weather was not cooperating. I went below the pilot house and asked the Captain if we are going back, he stated we would look for an alley way back through the waves. It was a good experience, but I would not do that again in those conversations.
Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience and for your kind words about our crew. We’re glad you were able to see whales, dolphins, and sea otters. Whale watching takes place on the open Pacific, and everyone’s comfort level with conditions on the water is different. Our crew evaluates conditions before departure and throughout every trip, with safety always our top priority. We appreciate you joining us and are glad you were able to experience some of Morro Bay’s incredible marine life.

Whale ride once in a lifetime experience
Once in a lifetime experience . Crew were spectacular - saw tons of whales & calves - they were so helpful and with personal knowledge to discuss everything . I can’t say enough about this whale boat ride. Parents don’t take little kids - too scary and they will get sick . Take The sea sickness pills & you will be fine - don’t & you will be barfing off the boat

Absolutely breathtaking
Quite a bit of people but did not feel crowded. Had my doubts on what we were going to see. However this experience was absolutely amazing. I was so blown away how much we got to see. Definitely worth the money. It was a 3 and half hour boat ride. The staff was kind and very informative.

Whale Watching Adventure in Morro Bay: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for San Luis Obispo.
How much does Whale Watching Adventure in Morro Bay cost?
+
Prices start at $65 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in San Luis Obispo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Whale Watching Adventure in Morro Bay take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in San Luis Obispo is not rushed.
Is Whale Watching Adventure in Morro Bay worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 75 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 83 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in San Luis Obispo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Whale Watching Adventure in Morro Bay?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Whale Watching Adventure in Morro Bay suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Whale Watching Adventure in Morro Bay?
+
Around 29 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in San Luis Obispo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in San Luis Obispo and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Whale Watching Adventure in Morro Bay start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central San Luis Obispo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in San Luis Obispo?
+
San Luis Obispo, CA packs its best experiences into walkable neighborhoods, local food, and day trips nearby. Outty ranks every bookable tour and activity in San Luis Obispo by rating quality, review depth, booking demand and value, so you can see the standouts before you book. On Outty we rank every San Luis Obispo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Electric Bike Rental in Morro Bay, Guided E-Bike Tour of Morro Bay, Downtown SLO Brunch Food & Drink Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit San Luis Obispo?
+
Spring and fall bring the best weather and lighter crowds in San Luis Obispo, while summer has the widest choice of tours and evening activities. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in San Luis Obispo?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
