DON'T pay the pick up fee in advance

I booked directly through their website and paid the 20 Euros to get picked up from the hotel. The day of my tour maybe a couple of hours before the scheduled time, I get a text from the tour guide saying that it won't be possible to pick me up and that I have to find my way there. So on top of the 20 Euros that I had paid in advance, I had to pay for an Uber to take me there and not loose all the money I had paid for the tour. The tour guide was very nice and friendly and knowledgeable, but the problem is the terrible customer service. I started sending emails in the morning of the day of my tour (Monday) to request a refund for the pick up service that I didn't get. I got no replies to my emails, then I contacted them via WhatsApp and Messenger. Someone finally answered the WhatsApp text on Monday night ( the day of my tour), after reviewing the case they agreed to refund the payment and that I would receive confirmation once it was completed. I waited on Tuesday and since I didn't get any updates I wrote again on Wednesday, but they have been ignoring my messages for 2 days now. I have screenshot of the conversation, still giving them the chance to make it right. I hope I get my refund.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback, and for the kind words about your guide — we're glad the tour itself was a good experience. We'd like to explain the pick-up. Our pick-up service is offered for hotels and apartments in the centre of Madrid, as stated on our booking page. Your accommodation was approximately 25 km away, near the airport, which is well outside that area — the round trip would have meant cancelling or seriously delaying the tour for the other passengers. Rather than cancel your booking, our driver arranged to meet you at Plaza de Torros, around 8 km from the centre and also outside our usual pick-up zone, so that you could still join the tour. The pick-up fee has been applied to that journey. Where we did fall short was in our communication. You should have received a clear answer far sooner than you did, and the delay between our messages was our fault. We're sorry for that. We've also updated our booking page to make clear exactly which areas of Madrid are covered by the city-centre pick-up, to avoid requests for pick-ups from the outskirts of the city.

Great 2 hr crash course on the history of Madrid!

Miguel was our tour guide and we had a great time! It was a hot day so it was nice to not be walking and have a breeze while seeing the highlights of Madrid. We did the tour early in our trip and it helped us decide what we did want to go back to and what we were fine just getting a quick glimpse of. With your own guide it is nice to be able to ask questions whenever you want and ask to stop for pictures when you want to!

Welcoming tour Madrid: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Madrid.

How much does Welcoming tour Madrid cost?

    +

Prices start at $149 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Madrid usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Welcoming tour Madrid take?

    +

Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Madrid is not rushed.

Is Welcoming tour Madrid worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 44 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 87 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Madrid, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Welcoming tour Madrid?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Welcoming tour Madrid suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Welcoming tour Madrid?

    +

Around 30 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Madrid can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Madrid and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Welcoming tour Madrid start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Madrid within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Madrid?

    +

On Outty we rank every Madrid experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Madrid Essential: Historic Center, Plaza Mayor & Royal Palace, Madrid Walking Tour from Puerta del Sol to Retiro Park, Madrid Oscuro: Torture, Ghosts, Crimes and Legends. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Madrid?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Madrid?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
