Amazing experience with great drinks

Fabulous experience, the security guy at the start was brilliant and really made the evening from the off. Our servers were friendly and very knowledgeable, the shots and cocktails were fantastic and we even tried the slide at the end! Don’t forget to try the Kodo speakeasy at the back of the building, the Yuzu sake was a revelation. Highly recommend both venues.

Something a little different

Great Experience. We had an evening reservation and as we walked down the street we walked past the place initially. No lights on ans was just how you would expect a closed laundrette to look. For anyone who remembers the original levi 501 jeans advert from the 80s there was even a young guy sat on a washing machine reading his book, just like Nick Caymen did in the original. I dont want to say too much and spoil it for anyone but we entered. Did a few things and found us in the main bar where we enjoyed multiple cocktails and beers. Had a fab night. Would love to do it again and would highly recommend to others.

Disappointing

Very disappointing experience with The Washhouse. I had a 2pm hen-do booking, but that morning my 9-week-old baby was unexpectedly admitted to hospital. I spent the day in hospital dealing with an incredibly frightening situation and, understandably, my hen do was the last thing on my mind. I accept I should have contacted them and have apologised. I was subsequently charged £125. I explained what had happened and offered to rebook, but they refused any refund, reduction or goodwill gesture. What upset me most was the complete lack of personal empathy. The emails came across as rude and dismissive, with no name or indication of who I was actually speaking to. They had my contact details but made no attempt to contact me when we didn’t arrive, yet later suggested someone else in the group could have cancelled despite nobody else knowing the booking details. I understand businesses need cancellation policies, but I had hoped for a little compassion when faced with a newborn being admitted to hospital. Manchester is a city I associate with community spirit and looking out for people, so the complete lack of this was particularly disappointing. It isn’t just the £125 — it’s how the situation was handled and shows a lot about how they treat customers.

To set the record straight for anyone reading, as you never actually visited The Washhouse: • This was a group hen party booked on a fully booked Saturday afternoon. • Our no-show policy was shown three times during booking and confirmed by you before the reservation was completed. • Cancelling takes seconds: by email, through any of our social channels, or one tap on the link in your confirmation. • Nobody from the party used any of them. The table sat empty for two hours. • You say nobody else in the group knew the booking details, yet a member of your party emailed us afterwards quoting the name, date and time of the booking. • As you acknowledge in your own review, you should have contacted us. It's disappointing to receive a poor review for a visit that never happened, over a cancellation you acknowledge you should have made. We apply our policy to every booking, without exception. Many no-shows come with difficult circumstances, and the only fair approach is not to pick and choose whose reasons qualify. Every guest who honours their booking deserves that consistency. Amazing cocktails in a fab setting

A great experience which started as we entered. The Staff were really friendly and helpful and the cocktails were delicious. We will be back!
