What you'll see and do
Kampong Kleang Floating Village Tour
After breakfast, we'll start the one hour drive to Kampong Khleang which is around 50km southeast of Siem Reap town. It's the largest floating village in Siem Reap and home to more than 10,000 people. Around 90% are ethnic Khmer and 10% are ethnic Vietnamese. Most of the people living here make their living from fishing, farming, trading and tourism. Along the way to Kampong Khleang, we'll stop and taste local snacks called Kralan (Bamboo sticky rice) and explore the countryside. At Kampong Khleang, you'll see houses on top of 8m stilts, house shops, a school and a monastery. There are also fish farms. In the dry season, you can walk through the village. In the floating village, you'll see floating houses built on boats, bamboo rafts and old oil drums. There are mobile boat shops and school. We will also visit a local market where you can see how the locals go about their everyday lives.

How I spend a Friday
Started off with a problem. Local outfit listed reservation for the wrong month, hence they failed to pick us up. After a few phone calls and apologies everything got worked out. The first stop was a “floating village” loved the concept, but the water was so low the boat struggled to moved through the channels. I honestly think we turned around earlier than expected because of the difficulty . The next stop was lunch. Dropped off at a restaurant slightly out of the way. Food okay, but expensive for local food. Next stop was the monestary which paid homage to the killing fields. You definitely need to stop here for the information about this event in Cambodias history. You pay to enter, not part of the tour! Last stop is at a place called the war museum. Avoid it! Just a bunch of rusted out military equipment from different. Countries involved with Cambodia. So many duplicates. Not worth the $10usd that you pay! Again not part of the tour. A long day but great guide and driver.

We knew that the water is low but we still put available for booking because most of our customers like to experience lifestyles of people living at lake in dry and flooded seasons. Usually tour guides recommend you a clean restaurant where tourists eat just in case you get sick, so the price is higher then food selling a long the road. The entrances fee of Killing Fields and War Museum aren’t included ( it mentions in the grams that you would knew before you booked the tour, the ticket of war museum is 5 USD per person, 10 USD is for two people. We added War Museum in this tour is to prove history of war in Cambodia and what type of military weapons were used. Our main purpose for this tour is to share stories of the families , relatives and guide’s personal experiences during bad time. we’re really happy to hear that you enjoyed the guide and driver and that the day.
