Take your money elsewhere; poor customer service experience

This was a terrible experience. The tour guide did not show up nor were they responsive to my queries as to where they were via the app; only when I reported the incident to Viator did they bother to respond via app. They then lied to Viator about some made up communication and Viator believed them and denied a refund. Take your business elsewhere folks, this wasn’t worth it. And Lori and Viator, do better and treat people with respect.

Response from the operator: I'm sorry about your experience, but as you booked on a third party ticketing site, we are limited into what customer service we can provide. The tour ran as scheduled and the guide did arrive. We did not "make up communication" - we provided screen shots of texts messages and call logs from two different phone numbers (our office and the tour guide) sent to the phone number Viator provided to us showing that you were contacted both the day before and the day of by our office and the tour guide. We are not given guests email addresses. The Viator app is a email message not direct communication so we did not receive it until after the tour started, but which point we had already been reaching out to you via text message and phone calls, as documented in the screenshots, when your guide noted you had not checked in. We never received any calls or texts to the office number we provide Viator for issues. We tried our best to reach you via calls and texts and happy to share those with you directly if you'd like. We only have the phone number Viator gave us so I cannot say why you did not receive any of our calls or messages sent from two different phone numbers on two different days. While I am sorry that this happened, it is unfair to accuse us of lying as we have evidence of our actions to reach you and we only have an email (not meant for urgent issues which is why your ticket has our phone number) from you trying to reach us.

Excellent experience

Onnel is a great guide, making the history come alive, adding humor to his stories. It was a very cold day and we didn't feel how time passed by. U can see that he enjoys guiding.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful review! We're so glad Onnel made the tour enjoyable and engaging, even on a cold day, with his passion and humor.

Lower Manhattan & 9/11 Tours by foot!

We had a fantastic tour by Jon! It was a lovely New York morning and we learned all about the city and its history. It is the best way to enter a weekend in the greatest city - understanding why it is so great. We felt like we gained a lot of knowledge on our country’s history and its beginning. Also learned a lot of new stories about 9/11 that we had no idea about. This tour is packed with information, we learned a ton! He was such a lovely guide and even got some great shots of us at different sites along the way! Would reccomend!

Response from the operator: Thank you for your fantastic review! We're so glad Jon made your tour both informative and memorable, and that you gained a deeper understanding of New York's rich history!

super tour, with some of new yorks history.

I like doing this 6-hour tour, and so far, I have done it 6 times. Every time, I learn new stuff. Every tourguide has a different perspective. Joe is an empathetic guide, who answered all our questions. The group was rather small, which was good because we really were walking.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your continued support and fantastic review! We're thrilled you keep discovering new insights with each tour and that Joe made the experience even more engaging with his empathy and knowledge!

Wall Street & Lower Manhattan History Walking Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for New York.

How much does Wall Street & Lower Manhattan History Walking Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $29 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in New York usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Wall Street & Lower Manhattan History Walking Tour take?

+

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in New York is not rushed.

Is Wall Street & Lower Manhattan History Walking Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 18 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in New York, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Wall Street & Lower Manhattan History Walking Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Wall Street & Lower Manhattan History Walking Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 2-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Wall Street & Lower Manhattan History Walking Tour?

+

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in New York can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in New York and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Wall Street & Lower Manhattan History Walking Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central New York within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in New York?

+

New York has more bookable experiences than any other city on Outty, and the quality spread is brutal. Observation decks are commoditised, so we score them on timed-entry reliability and sunset slots. Food tours and borough walks are where the ranking really separates operators, and the top scores in the city all come from small-group guides. On Outty we rank every New York experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Grand Canyon VIP Helicopter Tour, Half-Day Bus Tour of NYC Top Highlights, NYC Bus Tour of Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens: Art, Food & Sports. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit New York?

+

September to early November, and late April through June. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in New York?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
