Our route will take us through the longest tunnel in South America, offering a unique experience as we make our way to one of the most picturesque regions in Antioquia. We'll witness a mesmerizing transformation in the landscape. The bustling cityscape will gradually give way to charming farms nestled amidst the grandeur of the Andes mountains, this transition is truly breathtaking, immersing us in a world that feels entirely different. Our first stop will be Alto del Chocho, a typical restaurant conveniently located along the road. The original town was completely submerged but the community refused to be defeated and decided to rebuild on higher ground, giving birth to the new town of El Peñol. Known as the "Phoenix of America," this town is a testament to the human spirit and the power of community.

Great time
Absolutely fantastic guide. Daniel aka IG (colombian_guide) was originally born in Boston, USA and spoke perfect English and Spanish, which was useful as my wife is Latina and I am from the USA. The tour had the freedom of an old friend showing you around and not a structured high school class trip. We saw Gutape, and the pretty colorful town close by, as well as a waterfall. Stopped for drinks here and there. Amazing experience!

Loved this trip, beginning to end
This tour was the highlight of our trip. The decision for a provate tour with this company was absolutely worth it. When we were done with an area, we simply moved on. We lingered around all the areas where we wanted to see more. We ate lunch at a small, local restaurant in Retiro that was so good. Camilo was an amazing tour guide. He made it a point to give us the history behind the small businesses without the pressure of purchasing like in most tourist traps. Any trip/excursion to Guatape will be breathtaking but if you want control over your day and to see an equally beautiful Retiro, this trip is highly recommended.

Best Tori guide for the tour
Great experience! I loved the itinerary for this trip. What made it even better was our tour guide, Juan Jaramillo! He was awesome, sweet and such a great person. He is very friendly and it feels like you are talking to a friend, not a stranger. He ensured we got to our destination in a timely fashion but also gave us the liberty to have some freedom on the tour. I would recommend him. Guatape was easy and moderately challenging at the same time as I felt like I was losing my breathe going up the stairs. Would highly recommend!

The Perfect Day Trip: Stunning views, rich history, and great stops and the perfect guide!
We booked the "Visit Guatape, El Peñol, El Retiro & Tekendamita Waterfall" excursion on May 23, 2026 and it was easily the highlight of our trip. We were picked up right on time in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. Our guide, Camilo, was amazing — on time, extremely knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating and patient. Did not rush us once like the other tour we booked with another company. From the famous rock in Guatape, the views, feeding the Llamas, horses and fish to the small town, food and drinks along with time for shopping this excursions had a little bit for everyone. Thank you so much for a great time and for being such a wonderful guide Camilo! I highly recommend booking with The Andes Adventure Travels and asking for Camilo. A++

Best of Columbia tour
What an amazing tour! Our tour guide Alex was waiting for us on time for our hotel pick up! From the very start he was a wealth of knowledge and answer all of our questions both tour related and non tour related! The stops on the tour were filled with beauty and the history of Columbia. By the end of the tour we felt as though Alex was a part of our travel crew and that we were natives of Columbia! I highly recommend this tour and that Alex is your tour guide!
