HARD hike but good hike.

We did the Bakota Gorge hike & sunset bush dinner. Booked thru Mpala guest and adventure farm & Try Rafting tours. They picked us up at our lodge and drove us thru “rural villages” out to the gorge. You can choose a hike along top the gorge ridge line or descend down in to the gorge approx 1,000 ft and hike along the river returning up a different trail. The hike down to the gorge is NOT for everyone. It’s steep, it’s uneven, there’s some rock scrambling and ladders. Beautiful if you can do it! We enjoyed it even though we were slow. Guide was patient with us. The hike back up was a lot of bush whacking almost thru tall grasses though much of which was taller than me at 5 ft tall. There was a trail but tall grasses on either side. I assume the hike along the ridge line was easy but wouldnt be as pretty? Ended with a private dinner made by a local and served atop the gorge with the Zambezi River below and sun setting in the distance. Beautiful afternoon and very romantic /private. Guide was patient with our slow speed. He wasn’t knowledgeable though when I asked questions. Kate the tours coordinator was the best to work with of all tour operators we worked with while planning our 16 day African adventure. So helpful answering all my many questions! Thank you for a beautiful afternoon.

Gorge sunset hike. Hardest walk vertically down the gorge! Up is easier than down! Great views and dinner after.

Very challenging hike not for the feint hearted! Going down was the most challenging. My guide was very kind and patient as I was very slow! Amazing views. Dinner was delicious after in a local village in the middle of nowhere. Dinner was by torchlight! Recommended if you are good with heights and pretty fit!

Response from the operator: Thank you for hiking with us!

How long does Victoria Falls Batoka Gorge Sunset Hike & Gorge Side Dinner take?

Is Victoria Falls Batoka Gorge Sunset Hike & Gorge Side Dinner worth it?

+

That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Victoria Falls, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Is Victoria Falls Batoka Gorge Sunset Hike & Gorge Side Dinner suitable for kids and families?

+

How far in advance should I book Victoria Falls Batoka Gorge Sunset Hike & Gorge Side Dinner?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Victoria Falls can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Victoria Falls and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Victoria Falls?

+

On Outty we rank every Victoria Falls experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Victoria Falls Dinner Cruise on the Zambezi River, Victoria Falls Theatre Featuring Simunye: The Spirit of Africa, Zambezi River Class IV-V White-Water Rafting from Victoria Falls. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Victoria Falls?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Victoria Falls?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
