Great day trip to Varazdin and Trakoscan castle!
Great tour of Varazdin and visit of Trakoscan castle (ticket included). Small group (in this tour there was just myself and another participant) also makes the experience more personable and not overwhelming. Guide and driver Maja was professional, knowledgeable, resourceful, as well as flexible and patient. She’s very passionate about the history and culture of Croatia and also showed areas that were not to miss. Would really recommend this to any traveler (especially solo) looking for a day excursion from Zagreb (asides from Plitvice and Lake Bled). It’s definitely of good value worth and experience!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughtful review! We’re thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your day exploring Varaždin and Trakošćan Castle, and that the small group setting made the experience even more special. Thank you for recommending us to other travellers, looking for a day trip from Zagreb. We hope to welcome you back for another adventure in Croatia in the future!

Recommended!!!
May is a fantastic tour guide, we had a great time and we were 8 ppl in a van. We spent time with the tour guide in town where she explained the most important things in town with lost of historical details and one hour in Varazdin on our own, you can choose to have lunch or wonder around. After that it is the castle time, you have enough time to see the whole castle and walk around the lake, there is coffee shop around to have a quick coffee. Overall it was a super relaxing day, May took amazing care of us, and she was an amazing guide!
Response from the operator: Many thanks for booking the tour and posting such amazing review. We appreciate your kind words. It was our pleasure to have you!

A quaint town and a castle
We had a very nice time on this tour. Our guide was fantastic; she is very knowledgeable about all things Croatia and has an obvious love for her country that was evident in her presentation. Verazdon is a picturesque town and we enjoyed walking around the center. Trakoscan is very nice and includes much of the original furnishings. Plus there are QR codes which provide additional information. The path to the castle proper is not overly strenuous. The pace of this tour was very relaxed, which suited us well since we are at the end of our time in Croatia. However, we felt our visit to castle was too short - we had to hurry through the second floor and we didn’t have time to read all the placards. If we could make one suggestion it would be to have more time to linger in Trakoscan instead of in Verazdon.
Response from the operator: Thank you for booking the tour and posting this nice review. We really value the feedback from our customers and appreciate all your suggestions. We wish you a safe return to you home. Best regards!

Recommended Trip
Excellent tour of Baroque town Varazdin and Trakoscan Castle. Our tour guide was Maya, and she was highly informative and personable. Varazdin has several interesting churches and a charming atmosphere. Trakoscan Castle also has a lake and a forest with the same name. Both the interior and exterior of the castle are worth exploring.
Response from the operator: Million thanks for booking the tour, we are thrilled that you enjoyed the day with us and wish you a safe return to your home. Warm regards!

Why this scores 81
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
VarazdinTown & Trakoscan Castle, Small Guided Group from Zagreb: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Zagreb.
How much does VarazdinTown & Trakoscan Castle, Small Guided Group from Zagreb cost?
+
Prices start at $110 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Zagreb usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does VarazdinTown & Trakoscan Castle, Small Guided Group from Zagreb take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Zagreb is not rushed.
Is VarazdinTown & Trakoscan Castle, Small Guided Group from Zagreb worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 81 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 80 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Zagreb, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule VarazdinTown & Trakoscan Castle, Small Guided Group from Zagreb?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is VarazdinTown & Trakoscan Castle, Small Guided Group from Zagreb suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book VarazdinTown & Trakoscan Castle, Small Guided Group from Zagreb?
+
Around 28 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Zagreb can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Zagreb and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does VarazdinTown & Trakoscan Castle, Small Guided Group from Zagreb start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Zagreb within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Zagreb?
+
On Outty we rank every Zagreb experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Communism & Croatian Homeland War Tour, Zagreb Highlights: Old Town, WWII tunnels, Funicular & Tastings, Old Zagreb Private Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Zagreb?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Zagreb?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
