Administration Disappointment
We paid a premium of $300 per person to book the E-Bike tour at the private Triple Tier Falls through Norwegian Cruise Line, which is over twice the standard rate. Given this high price, we anticipated exceptional service from Umauma. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we learned that swimming in the waterfalls, which was a primary reason we selected this excursion, was prohibited because a cow had given birth in the water. Although our tour guides were fantastic and did an amazing job, we were deeply dissatisfied with the administration at Umauma for failing to offer a suitable alternative activity, such as the Zip Line.
Response from the operator: Aloha, Mahalo for taking the time to share your feedback. Weʻre glad to hear you enjoyed your guides and appreciate your kind words about their efforts. Weʻre sincerely sorry that the waterfall swim was unavailable during your visit. Guest safety is always our highest priority, and due to unforeseen environmental conditions, we made the difficult decision to temporarily close the swimming area. We understand how disappointing this was, especially since it was a highlight of the excursion you were looking forward to. Unfortunately, because of peak season availability, we were unable to accommodate tour changes that day. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for the full experience in the future.

Most relaxing excursion on the Island
One of the most relaxing & enjoyable experiences I've had on the Big Island in the 20 years I've been visiting.

Chill day at the Umauma Experience
We had a nice, relaxing time at the private waterfall and river swim. My 74 year old mother enjoyed a relaxing day playing in the water, using the paddleboard, and even did the small “cliff” jump into the pool. Jake was very helpful and very patient with the couple that was paired with us for this tour. This was a much needed respite from all of our other activities on the island thus far.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share this wonderful review! It absolutely made our day to hear about your relaxing experience at our private waterfall and river swim. We're especially thrilled to hear that your 74-year-old mother had such an adventurous day. Jake will be so pleased to hear your kind words about his service. We pride ourselves on having guides who are not only knowledgeable about the area but also patient and attentive to each guest's needs and comfort level. Jake embodies exactly the kind of personalized care we strive to provide on every tour. We're delighted that our tour provided the perfect respite during your island adventure. We know how busy island itineraries can get, and we're honored that you chose to spend some of your precious time with us for a more peaceful, intimate experience. Thank you again for choosing us and for sharing your experience. Reviews like yours help other families know what to expect and encourage us to keep delivering these memorable moments. We hope you had a wonderful rest of your stay on the island! Aloha!

Umauma Falls Private Waterfall And River Swim: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Big Island of Hawaii.
How much does Umauma Falls Private Waterfall And River Swim cost?
+
Prices start at $94 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Big Island of Hawaii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Umauma Falls Private Waterfall And River Swim take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Big Island of Hawaii is not rushed.
Is Umauma Falls Private Waterfall And River Swim worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Big Island of Hawaii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Umauma Falls Private Waterfall And River Swim?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Umauma Falls Private Waterfall And River Swim suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Umauma Falls Private Waterfall And River Swim?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Big Island of Hawaii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Big Island of Hawaii and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Umauma Falls Private Waterfall And River Swim start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Big Island of Hawaii within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Big Island of Hawaii?
+
The Big Island is volcano country: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park tours, Mauna Kea summit stargazing, night manta ray snorkels off Kona, Waipio Valley lookouts and coffee farm visits. Summit tours have real altitude rules, so we weight safety detail. On Outty we rank every Big Island of Hawaii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include KONA Manta Ray Night Snorkel - FREE re-ride if no Sightings, Big Island in a Day: Volcanoes Waterfalls Sightseeing and History, Big Island: Captain Cook Snorkel On A Power Catamaran With Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Big Island of Hawaii?
+
April to October, though the island runs year round. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Big Island of Hawaii?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
