Rushed experience.
This trip is advertised as 6 hours in the National park and 2 hours at the orphanage. This is what actually happened. Ww were pick up at 5am from our hotel in Kalutara, he drove very slowly up the motorway arriving at the park at 8am and we were immediately put onto a truck. We drove around for 2 hours only returning to the start and led into the orphanage for the 10 15am feeding. After 1 hour we were gently ushered out of the orphanage, had a brief break for lunch and were told that is the end and had to get back into the car. We then sped back down the motorway, taking a big detour to deliver groceries to the drivers sister. So our 6 hour safari and 2 hours with the baby elephants turned into 2 hours and 1 hour. This was not good value for the large sum charged for the trip.

Day trip to Udawalawa National Safari park
We booked a full day private tour with Prasad to Udawalawa National Safari park. Coach arrived at 5am for the approx 3hour journey from Bentota. Coach was spacious, clean and had air conditioning. We stopped initially at the elephant transition centre where we watched the orphaned and injured elephants being fed. Then on to the Safari park where Prasad had arranged for two Safari jeeps to meet us. The tour around the Safari park was amazing and we saw wild elephants, water buffalo, deer, jackal, monkeys, crocodiles, chameleon, kingfishers, a stork and several parrots. Our guide was very knowledgeable and provided us with binoculars to see the animals. Prasad organised a great day for us and we were able to pay him in either £’s or rupees. Prasad was really friendly and knowledgeable and spoke very good English. He was easy to contact via WhatsApp and his mobile. The cost of the day was very reasonable and great value. We would highly recommend using this company and doing this trip.

The Lovely Prasad
In a big group of 14 including 2 young kids. We did 2 airport trips with Prasad and rolled in short stop off in Colombo. So bespoke arrangements always available. We did a lovely Galle trip as well and we added in places we wished for. Also the safari Udawalawa. All handled perfectly. Our host Prasad really makes you feel looked after. Happily recommend Asya Tours to anyone visiting Sri Lanka.

Why this scores 53
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Udawalawa National Park Day Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Colombo.
How much does Udawalawa National Park Day Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $330 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Colombo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Udawalawa National Park Day Tour take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Colombo is not rushed.
Is Udawalawa National Park Day Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Colombo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Udawalawa National Park Day Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Udawalawa National Park Day Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Udawalawa National Park Day Tour?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Colombo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Colombo and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Udawalawa National Park Day Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Colombo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Colombo?
+
On Outty we rank every Colombo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Flexi dates on all 5 to 7 days packages for car and English speaking driver, Sri Lanka Personal Tour Driver in private vehicle, 08 Nights in Magical Sri Lanka. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Colombo?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Colombo?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
