Igreja de Sao Roque
The Igreja de São Roque (Church of Saint Roch) is a Roman Catholic church in Lisbon, Portugal. It was the earliest Jesuit church in the Portuguese world, and one of the first Jesuit churches anywhere. The edifice served as the Society’s home church in Portugal for over 200 years, before the Jesuits were expelled from that country. After the 1755 Lisbon earthquake, the church and its ancillary residence were given to the Lisbon Holy House of Mercy to replace their church and headquarters which had been destroyed. It remains a part of the Holy House of Mercy today, one of its many heritage buildings. The Igreja de São Roque was one of the few buildings in Lisbon to survive the earthquake relatively unscathed. When built in the 16th century it was the first Jesuit church designed in the “auditorium-church” style specifically for preaching. It contains a number of chapels, most in the Baroque style of the early 17th century. The most notable chapel is the 18th-century Chapel of St. John the Baptist (Capela de São João Baptista), a project by Nicola Salvi and Luigi Vanvitelli constructed in Rome of many precious stones and disassembled, shipped, and reconstructed in São Roque; at the time it was reportedly the most expensive chapel in Europe.

Great way to see the highlights with someone who really knows.
We were set up with Miguel by our apartment host. It was a great recommendation. Miguel met us at our apartment and took us on our tuk tuk. He was from the city and really knew the history. He tailored the trip to our desire. I would recommend him if you are doing Tuk Tuk. The next day I reached out to him regarding a recommendation to a Fado house. He hooked us up with a great place.

Our group of 5 all loved it!
Miguel did a fantastic job showing us around the hills of Lisbon. He asked us what we wanted to see and customized our stops to make our tour perfect. We never felt rushed. He was friendly, and very knowledgeable about the history and culture of Lisbon. He was also funny and added a couple of surprise stops along the way. Miguel was very easy to schedule with, confirmed our pick up times and was very professional! Would 100% recommend!

Great Tuk Tuk tour
Excellent tour of Alfama up to Graca viewpoints then to explore Bairro Alto area. Ruben was so informative on the history of the area and super friendly. Definitely recommend this if you want to see a lot and the weather is too hot for climbing!

Great tuk tuk tour of Lisbon
We really enjoyed this tour. Our guide Damião was very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of Lisbon and Portugal. The tour took about 2 hours 30 mins and we got to see a huge amount of the history and culture of Lisbon during that time. Damião chatted with us, all through the tour. He kept us entertained and engaged throughout. Would highly recommend this tour.

Fabulous Tour with Miguel
Miguel was our guide and tailored our tour perfectly for my family. We visited the best viewing points, churches, bars, had locally made fabulous ginjinha and were recommended all sorts of restaurants and bars to visit! Could not have been better. We all loved it and will remember Miguel fondly! Thank you!!!
