Akumal sea turtles and cenotes
Edgar was awesome! We booked the excursion with him before we even came to Akumal. We have done excursions in Mexico before through larger tour companies, which were fun, but we wanted a more personalized experience with less of a crowd, more opportunity to design our excursion, and not be gone for an entire day. We enjoyed our trip swimming with the sea turtles, and then adventuring into the cenotes. Edgar was very friendly, punctual, and reliable. He made sure that we were happy with everything, which we were except for the tremendous amount of mosquitoes! I would highly recommend using his services, and he has many excursions that he offers. I actually went and booked him to take me on an excursion to the monkey sanctuary tomorrow.

An Amazing Private Tour with Edgar! The Highlight of Our Mexico Vacation!
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Edgar and Kooten Waye Tours and Transfers! If you’re visiting Mexico and looking for a private tour, I highly recommend him! I’ll be the first to admit that I was a little nervous about booking with a private local guide. We’ve traveled to Mexico many times, but we’ve always booked our excursions through larger, well known tour companies. I had never booked directly with an independent guide before, and honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Well, let me tell you, booking with Edgar turned out to be one of the best decisions we made on our vacation! We were celebrating my husband’s 60th birthday and wanted to do something special with our family. We were also very specific about what we wanted. We wanted to snorkel in Tulum, visit a cenote, and enjoy the experience without spending an entire day away from our resort. We wanted something around four hours, not one of those long excursions where you’re gone all day. Edgar listened to exactly what we wanted and made it happen! He didn’t try to sell us something different or convince us to book a longer tour. He understood what was important to us and planned the experience around our family. It was absolutely perfect! From the moment we met him, any nervousness I had completely disappeared. Edgar was friendly, funny, incredibly knowledgeable, and just a genuinely wonderful person to spend the day with. We felt safe, comfortable, and completely at ease. He made the entire experience so enjoyable, and we had such a great time with him! And the value was incredible! For a private family tour that was customized to exactly what we wanted, the price was fantastic. We received such personal attention, something you just don’t always get with the larger tour companies. Looking back, I am so glad we decided to try something different this time. I wish we had discovered Edgar sooner! He helped make my husband’s 60th birthday such a wonderful memory for our family, and that’s something we will always appreciate. We travel to Mexico often, and I can honestly say that Edgar will be our first call every single time we return. There is no reason for us to go back to booking those large group excursions when we can have this kind of experience! If you’re like me and have been hesitant about booking with a private local guide, I hope this review gives you the confidence to give Edgar a chance. I am so glad we did, and I would recommend him without hesitation to anyone visiting the area. Thank you, Edgar, for such a fantastic day, for taking such good care of our family, and for helping make my husband’s 60th birthday so memorable. We can’t wait to see you again!

How much does Turtle Snorkeling and cenotes trip cost?

Is Turtle Snorkeling and cenotes trip worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tulum, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Is Turtle Snorkeling and cenotes trip suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Turtle Snorkeling and cenotes trip?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tulum can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tulum and add a light layer if any part of the 4.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Turtle Snorkeling and cenotes trip start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tulum within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Tulum?
+
On Outty we rank every Tulum experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Chichen Itza from Playa with cenote, Valladolid and Mayan cuisine, Tulum Ruins, Turtles in Akumal and Cenote tour, Selva Maya Eco Adventure Park: Ziplining, Hanging Bridges, Rappelling and Cenote. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tulum?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tulum?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
