Para Viajantes – misleading tour, hidden fees, avoid

We booked a Tulum and Cobá tour on GetYourGuide. After paying, we were contacted by Para Viajantes, who turned out to be only a reseller – the tour itself was run by another company. Para Viajantes' description was wrong: there were extra fees and the duration was different from what was advertised. When we complained, Para Viajantes was arrogant and unhelpful, blamed us for not reading the conditions, and then changed the description after our tour. Avoid Para Viajantes and book with a direct tour operator.

Response from the operator: We would like to clarify an important point regarding this review. The reviewer states that the booking was made through GetYourGuide. However, this review has been posted on our Viator listing, and we have no record of this customer booking this experience with ParaViajantes through Viator. For this reason, we believe this review has been incorrectly attributed to our company/listing, and we have already asked Viator to review and remove it. We take all genuine customer feedback seriously, whether positive or negative. However, it is equally important that reviews are posted on the correct platform and attributed to the company that actually handled the reservation. We kindly ask the reviewer to verify their GetYourGuide booking confirmation and the activity provider associated with that reservation.

Avoid this company! So many other choices ..

Not a 4-1 tour! Small minibus, im 5’8 but space for my legs! Changed bus 3 times! Spent 1/2 day dropping off people , picking up and waiting g for buses. For the final destination on the outskirts of plays Carmen , the bus abruptly stopped and we were ordered to get off as another bus and driver were waiting to take us back to Cancun. When we tried to explain that our tour was not done yet , they threatened to leave us stranded if we continued on with the rest of the group. We tried to speak to a supervisor but we were ignored and no one spoke English. When i eventually contacted the company via text , they were extremely rude and unhelpful. DO NOT USE THOSE COMPANY, there are dozens of others to choose from. The partial refund we got was 25 usd for 2 people where we paid 255 dollars with taxes and gratuity included! ( 10 percent refund!) Btw we we the only English speaking people on the tour , do not take this of you want a good quality, English speaking comfort tour. I’ve been on dozens of similar tour around the world in the past but never on one this bad. AVOID!

Response from the operator: You are ungrateful and rude, you should allow us this comment, attach the screenshots where you threatened us, wanting a private and personalized tour, when you pay for a regular tour. We also told you 2 days before, that we had no English tour available that day, and you still agreed to do the tour. We do not understand this kind of comments, you accept the conditions, and then you want to make a profit. Regrettable.

    Fun and informational!

We had a great time! Our guide was Hector and our driver was David. They were both awesome. There were only a couple of us who spoke English in the group but Hector did a great job making sure we understood all the information. He was great at informing us but also giving us time to explore on our own. They weren’t trying to sell us anything either, they just wanted to make sure we were having a great time. I recommend eating before for sure, we didn't eat until before the cenote but the food was delicious! (If you are vegetarian I wouldnt recommend). Overall, we had a great time and had lots of fun!

Tulum and Cobá 4-in-1: Mayan Ruins, Cenote, and Playa del Carmen: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cancun.

How much does Tulum and Cobá 4-in-1: Mayan Ruins, Cenote, and Playa del Carmen cost?

    +

Prices start at $110 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cancun usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Tulum and Cobá 4-in-1: Mayan Ruins, Cenote, and Playa del Carmen take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cancun is not rushed.

Is Tulum and Cobá 4-in-1: Mayan Ruins, Cenote, and Playa del Carmen worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 33 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cancun, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Tulum and Cobá 4-in-1: Mayan Ruins, Cenote, and Playa del Carmen?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Tulum and Cobá 4-in-1: Mayan Ruins, Cenote, and Playa del Carmen suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Tulum and Cobá 4-in-1: Mayan Ruins, Cenote, and Playa del Carmen?

    +

Around 12 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cancun can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cancun and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Tulum and Cobá 4-in-1: Mayan Ruins, Cenote, and Playa del Carmen start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cancun within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cancun?

    +

On Outty we rank every Cancun experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Chichen Itza from Cancun : Cenote, Valladolid and Mayan Cuisine, Early Access to Chichen Itza with optional pick-up, Early morning Chichen Itza Tour: Cenote and Tequila Tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cancun?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cancun?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
