Disappointing
We had a less than thrilling experience. The instructor got upset with us after the first dive and yelled at us like we were little children. The majority of the problems had to do with our buoyancy. Had the instructor spent more time in the training before the dive, explaining how to be neutrally buoyant, and then spent time when we first went down adjusting I think the problems could have been averted, but instead he got mad, brought us to the surface and yelled at us. As an instructor of inexperienced divers you have to be patient. I doubt we will use them again.

We genuinely apologize that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation. First and foremost, safety is our highest priority during every dive, especially when working with new or inexperienced divers. As a PADI 5 Star Dive Resort, we adhere strictly to the standards and limitations set forth for each PADI program. The Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) experience is an introductory program, and PADI outlines specific skills that instructors are permitted to teach during this class. It is essential to note that buoyancy control, including the use of the Buoyancy Control Device (BCD) underwater, is not a skill we are permitted to teach during the Discover Scuba Diving experience. For full instruction on buoyancy control, participants must complete the PADI Open Water Diver course, which includes dedicated pool and open water sessions focused on this essential skill. Before and during your dive, multiple safety reminders were provided, and you were advised several times not to inflate your BCD underwater. Despite these instructions, one family member repeatedly inflated their BCD at depth, causing unintended ascents that had to be corrected by the instructor. Additionally, there were numerous instances where the instructor's instructions were not followed. Due to these ongoing concerns, the instructor made the decision to terminate the first dive after 25 minutes. After the first dive, you were informed of specific concerns regarding behaviors in the water, which were calmly and clearly explained. At no point was anyone yelled at; however, the instructor spoke firmly, as repeated disregard for instructions in an underwater environment can pose serious risks. The instructor is responsible not only for everyone's experience but also for the safety of the entire group. We were pleased to see that after this conversation, everyone followed instructions properly, allowing us to conduct a safe and successful second dive. The significant difference in outcome between the two dives demonstrates that the instructor’s actions were necessary and appropriate for the safety of all participants. We understand that scuba diving can feel overwhelming at first, and we commend your family for taking on this challenge. We always strive to provide a supportive and safe environment for our divers and regret that your first impression was not more positive. Thank you once again for your feedback. We wish you all the best in your future underwater adventures.

New Family Tradition
Great dive shop with a passion to get families into the water. We had a teen daughter hesitant to try scuba and a pretty good dose of anxiety to boot. We signed up for the discover scuba experience, did the pool training, but was still hesitant and worried about equalizing ear pressure. Our guide Rob helped ease us into the water and “chill and relax”. What an awesome experience, we went from trepidation to scheduling our next trip to get PADI certified. Thanks for helping create a new family tradition! Can’t wait to see you guys again!

My First Open Water Scuba Diving Experience
I had an incredible experience earning my Open Water (OW) Certification with Scuba-Fun Dive Center during my trip to Key Largo! The entire process was seamless and enjoyable, thanks to the professional and patient guidance of my amazing instructors, Doc and Louis. Their expertise and encouragement made every dive feel safe and exciting. Exploring the breathtaking underwater world and encountering fascinating marine life was truly unforgettable. Great Learning Experience
My instructor was Doc, a retired Marine. He did a great job of positively teaching and coaching us, and I now feel very comfortable as a scuba adventurer. This is an extensive online and in person class and needs to be taken seriously. I have always been a snorkeler, and I’m glad I am now also certified to do open water dives!
