Each activity is taught in a small-group setting with plenty of individual guidance, making it suitable even for complete beginners. A special mother daughter afternoon
I brought my daughter for a cultural afternoon, and we chose Chinese knotting and the calligraphy painting workshop. It was a lovely way to spend some quality time together while each of us could enjoy something we were interested in. I was especially excited about the Chinese knotting because I’ve always wanted to learn how to make my own jewellery for my daughter and friends. The teacher was very professional and patient, explaining the techniques clearly and helping me whenever I got stuck. I was really happy to leave with a new skill that I can continue practising at home. My daughter especially loved the Chinese ink art experience. She had so much fun learning to use the traditional brush and created her own artwork on a fan, which she got to take home afterwards. It was a relaxed, creative afternoon and a wonderful way for us to experience traditional culture together.

Wonderful cultural afternoon for kids
We brought our two children here for an afternoon of traditional Chinese crafts, and they had a great time. We chose Chinese knotting and the Peking Opera mask painting and dress-up experience, which was a really nice combination of something creative and something playful. The children enjoyed making their own Chinese knot pieces and learning that the different knots have special meanings in Chinese culture. The highlight was definitely painting their Peking Opera masks and then dressing up in the matching costumes! They were so excited to become the Monkey King and we got some fantastic photos to remember the day. The staff were patient with the children and the whole experience felt relaxed. It was a lovely way to keep them entertained while also introducing them to Chinese traditions through activities they could actually take part in.

The perfect rainy afternoon in Shanghai
We had a very rainy day in Shanghai and needed to find something fun to do indoors, so my friends and I decided to spend the afternoon trying some traditional Chinese crafts. It turned out to be such a lovely way to escape the rain! We chose Chinese knotting and ink painting. We learned how to make our own Chinese knot pieces and also tried traditional brush painting and calligraphy. The instructors were patient and helpful, so everything felt very relaxed even when we were completely new. We spent a few hours crafting, chatting and drinking tea together, and the whole afternoon had such a calm and cosy atmosphere. Best of all, we now have our own handmade pieces to bring home as souvenirs, which feel much more special than something bought from a shop. A great rainy-day activity in Shanghai and a really enjoyable way to experience some traditional Chinese culture with friends.
