    A unique experience

Definitely an experience!! Gets you from A to B very cheaply, don't expect any sleep though. The roads are unsealed all the way there and super rough. A lot of the terrain is super steep too so our teeth were clacking all the way to Pokhara. The seats themselves were very comfy and went back a long way. The bus stopped every few hours (though a strong stomach is needed to use the public facilities on the road!! Make sure you go beforehand!!) The buses honk at each other with a range of different hilarious musical horns, creating a delightful cacophony and adding to the uniqueness of the experience. The pick up / finding the bus was pretty chaotic and random. We had a guide with us to help, which made the process fairly smooth, but I'm not sure how it would have gone down if we hadn't had him. The bus park is a circus of disorganised chaos and we loaded onto the bus amidst a chorus of terrifying horns blaring and buses trying to get past each other. Our bus was actually moving while we got on. Mobility and bravery a prerequisite. The pick up process left a little to be desired but it added to the overall unique experience of the tourist overnight bus! I give 3.5, though the platform won't let me, and most of the issues are to do with the environment and not the actual bus. The staff and the bus were perfectly fine.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience! It sounds like quite an adventure from Kathmandu to Pokhara. We're glad to hear that you found the seats comfortable and appreciated the uniqueness of the musical horns along the journey. The rough terrain and chaotic bus park definitely add to the thrill, and having a guide to assist with the process seems like a lifesaver! We appreciate your understanding that many challenges stem from the environment rather than the bus itself. Your feedback helps us improve and gives future travelers a realistic picture of what to expect. We hope to welcome you on another adventure soon – maybe with smoother roads next time! 😊

Average experience but above average costs

The bus condition was not what I expected - seats were old and uncomfortable. It was dirty. If this was the best bus service then I wonder what’s the other services really like.

Response from the operator: I'm sorry to hear that your experience with the tourist bus ticket service from Kathmandu to Pokhara or vice versa was not what you expected. It's unfortunate that the bus condition was not up to par and the seats were uncomfortable and dirty. However, it's important to note that there are different levels of bus services available, ranging from standard to luxury, and the cost of the ticket reflects the level of service provided. If you are looking for a higher quality experience, you may want to consider opting for a luxury bus service, even though it may come at a higher cost. Thank you for sharing your experience with us and I hope this information helps you make a more informed decision in the future.

    Uncomfortable journey

I genuinely think this is the worst bus journey I had so far.. the road is terrible and we took one hour to get out of Pokhara because the bus kept pulling over trying to collect people from the streets, shouting "Kathmandu!". The bus was probably emptier than it should have been and they didn't want to lose money. The stops were: 20 minutes toilet break, 20 minutes coffee break, 20 minutes lunch. So we basically had to rush eating. The windows were so damaged that the noise they did trembling was unbearable. I give two stars because on the way to Pokhara the journey was slightly better.

Tourist Bus Tickets: Kathmandu to Pokhara or Pokhara to KTM: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Pokhara.

How much does Tourist Bus Tickets: Kathmandu to Pokhara or Pokhara to KTM cost?

    +

Prices start at $18 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Pokhara usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Tourist Bus Tickets: Kathmandu to Pokhara or Pokhara to KTM take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Pokhara is not rushed.

Is Tourist Bus Tickets: Kathmandu to Pokhara or Pokhara to KTM worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.6/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Pokhara, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Tourist Bus Tickets: Kathmandu to Pokhara or Pokhara to KTM?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Tourist Bus Tickets: Kathmandu to Pokhara or Pokhara to KTM suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Tourist Bus Tickets: Kathmandu to Pokhara or Pokhara to KTM?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Pokhara can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Pokhara and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Tourist Bus Tickets: Kathmandu to Pokhara or Pokhara to KTM start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Pokhara within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Pokhara?

    +

On Outty we rank every Pokhara experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ghorepani - Poon Hill Trek 3N-4D, Annapurna Base Camp Trek -8 days, Annapurna Base Camp Treks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Pokhara?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Pokhara?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
