Great for learning how to experience mezcal
Rodrigo was a great tour guide, as were the guys who explained the mezcal at each tasting room. I had some mezcal knowledge coming in, but I learned even more & had some excellent mezcals along the way
Response from the operator: Hi there, Thank you so much for your review! 🌿 We’re thrilled to hear you enjoyed the mezcal tour and had the chance to learn more about mezcal while tasting some excellent selections. 🥂 We truly appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you back to Oaxaca for another Etnofood experience soon! Not what was advertised.
First, my guide was great. Knowledgeable and friendly. I don’t hold him responsible. The web site clearly states you will visit 3 mezcalerias. I know a fair amount about Mezcal and specifically signed up for this tour in order to try different brands in different locations. To my shock, the first two were closed and we ended up, after a very long walk, going to just the final one. We only tasted one brand (4 tastings) which just happened to be the brand of the company. At no time did I hear an apology or even acknowledgement that the tour had condensed dramatically. I would have thought they would have a back up plan of other mezcalerias or at least checked in advance that the places would be open. Very disappointing. Not at all what I paid for.

Must Do If You Love Mezcal
Fantastic tour and something you should really consider doing. They take the time to explain how the mescal is grown and distilled, and most importantly how best to drink it. you go to some really incredible Mezcal bars and we ended an incredible mezcal cocktail.
Response from the operator: Hi Héctor, Thank you so much for sharing your kind words with us! 🌿✨ We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed learning about the mezcal process and discovering some of Oaxaca’s incredible mezcal bars. It makes us very happy to know the cocktail at the end was the perfect closing touch. 🥂 We hope to welcome you again soon for another experience with Etnofood. Warm regards, The Etnofood Team

+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. +
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Oaxaca City?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
