Excellent day tour of Braga and Guimaraes.
I seldom give reviews, but this was an exceptional experience and I wanted people to know about it. Our tour guide, Jorge was quite knowledgeable, charismatic and funny. He actually lives in Braga. He presented options to each individual in our group. Some decided to walk more than others. Some decided to opt out of a museum … etc. The towns, churches and castles that we visited were very interesting. Free time was also given to roam freely. Lunch at Dianna’s was delightful. Go with the snapper if offered.

The Braga and Guimaraes day out
Sergio was a lovely person. Drove us very well and safely. He didn’t say very much about the places we visited. But could give some information if asked. Thank you. Gianfranco

Do not book this excursion!
Be warned that this is not a tour! There is no guide! There is only a driver, with very limited knowledge, who drops you off and picks you up at the various locations. That is a pity as Braga and Guimarães both look like interesting cities that we hope to revisit some day with a guide who can tell us about them. We did not visit all the listed locations. When questioned about this, the driver was not aware that location was on our list, then said something vague about work being done there.. The wording in the description is misleading, giving the impression that all entries are included, yet the entry fee for the palace and citadel in Guimarães are not included. Not being familiar with the area, this was not obvious to us. Finally, some listed amenities such as bottled water and WiFi were not available. This was a relatively expensive excursion. There were six of us (three groups of two) and we all felt that we did not get what we paid for. The only reason I gave this one star is that there is no option for zero stars,

Thank you NUNO
My husband and I had a one-way trip from Porto to Tui with a stop at Braga. The ride was comfortable. NUNO was prompt, courteous and an excellent guide. We were glad that our travel agent had chosen a reliable company, allowing us to enjoy the culture and its beauty to the fullest.

Don’t trust this tour operator
I will start with the tour guide was really nice. However, even though the listing said you would have a personal tour guide, he ended up just being a driver who dropped you off at each location with no commentary and said he would pick you back up in a couple hours. Please check all other similar tours and for the same price it includes a tour guide who walks around the locations with you. When I contacted them afterwards, they changed the listing. It now says there is a personal tour guide who may not walk around with you. lol. He forgot to change where it says you will have a personal tour guide. Our tour guide did not walk around with us at all and did not drive through the cities as a guide either. He was a really nice driver, but not a tour guide as you will see in some of the other reviews. So, we paid over $100 per person for a shared, crammed van full of people, when we could have taken a private Uber on our schedule for a total of $60 between the cities. Please check other tours and get a tour guide for the same price or just do it on your own.
Response from the operator: Good afternoon, dear client, We are sorry that you did not have a good experience with our team. However, we would also like to clarify some of the points you mentioned. As you probably noticed on the day of the tour, there are places you visited where access by car is not possible, either due to Portuguese law or simply because the streets are too narrow. Regarding your comment about sharing a van with other people, this is because the tour is a shared experience, as clearly stated in the title “...limited small group.” It is not a private tour exclusively for you, and we did not make any changes to the service—you may simply not have noticed this detail. Another point you mentioned was that you were “just dropped off,” which is not true. As explained, you received information about the history and the monuments you visited, followed by free time to explore on your own. The only correct point is that you did not have a full-time private guide, as this was never part of the service offered. Lastly, we regret that this review comes after a failed attempt at a refund, since our work was carried out professionally and impeccably.

Why this scores 60
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Tour- Guimarães and/or Braga: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Porto.
How much does Tour- Guimarães and/or Braga cost?
+
Prices start at $40 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Porto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Tour- Guimarães and/or Braga take?
+
Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Porto is not rushed.
Is Tour- Guimarães and/or Braga worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Porto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Tour- Guimarães and/or Braga?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Tour- Guimarães and/or Braga suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Tour- Guimarães and/or Braga?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Porto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Porto and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Tour- Guimarães and/or Braga start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Porto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Porto?
+
On Outty we rank every Porto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Unvanquished Tour in Porto City Center, Porto's #1 Walking Tour, Small Group Geres National Park Full Day with picnic from Porto. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Porto?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Porto?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
