Much Hype But Lacking in Substance

The pluses: departure time was later than scheduled but not by much and the return was on time. The large bus was comfortable and air conditioned. All towns were visited. The tour leader in Alberobello was informative and did her best to accommodate a large group. The negatives: a large group (many from a cruise ship docked in Brindisi) meant having to wait for your turn in blistering heat to see sites in Alberobello. Because the company provided a large bus instead of vans to accommodate the size of the group, the bus needed to park far away from the areas visited and so there was a lot of time (and struggle in the heat) getting to and from the sites that were worth seeing. For example, we had less than 20 minutes to spend in Locorotondo and 25 minutes in Ostuni, barely enough time to see much let alone grab a drink or do some shopping. The stop in Alberobello was the longest one. After the guided tour those of us who had opted out of the pre-booked lunch and wine tasting events had a little over an hour to have lunch and explore more of the town. The touristy area there was packed with people, lunch was rushed and no more sightseeing. It would have been much better to enjoy a relaxing lunch in the shady and cool alleyways and courtyards of Locorotondo or Ostuni. After Alberobello, we were shuttled to the remaining towns with no information about the towns other than a short pre-recorded audio message at the start of the tour,or the sites - which to see, which were open or closed, which were under repair. The tour operator merely dropped us off, led us to a meeting point and told us when to be back. Lastly, we’re in Puglia in August. It is HOT. It would have been nice if the tour operator would’ve been kind enough to provide passengers with at least one bottle of cold water during the eight hour experience. A couple more negatives, but I’ll stop there.

    Highly recommend this trip

Our driver Francisco and tour guide in Alberobello were excellent. I would highly recommend this trip. Communication was also excellent even during the trip when the vehicle got a puncture while we were in Ostuni.

Special day trip to Alberobello, Ostuni and Locorotondo

We had an amazing day trip to Alberobello, Ostuni, and Locorotondo! We were a family of three and were picked up near our hotel in Lecce. Francesco was our driver for the day, and with only two other couples on the tour, it almost felt like a private experience. Our first stop was Alberobello, and it was absolutely stunning. Seeing the famous Trulli houses in person was even better than the postcards and photos online—they truly lived up to our expectations. I would highly recommend visiting! After exploring Alberobello, we enjoyed brunch at a local restaurant away from the tourist hotspots. We had a delicious platter of cured meats and local cheeses, including burrata and mozzarella, and each of us had a drink included. The Aperol Spritz was excellent! The brunch was fantastic value for money, and the quality of the food was outstanding. We then continued on to Locorotondo and Ostuni, both of which were beautiful towns to explore. Although all three destinations were lovely, Alberobello was definitely my favourite. A special thank you to Lorenzo, our guide in Alberobello. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and more than happy to answer all of our questions, making the visit even more enjoyable. Another special thank you to Francesco, our driver for the day. He was friendly, professional, and shared lots of interesting information about the places we visited, which really enhanced the experience. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone staying in Lecce or Brindisi, especially if you don't have a car. It takes away all the stress of planning transport, navigating unfamiliar roads, and finding parking, allowing you to simply relax and enjoy these beautiful towns.

    Excellent guide and tour

There is a certain amount of walking, including a number if steps. The limestone can be a little slippery in places, so those who find walking a little difficult may find the tour too much, or May just need a companion whose arm they can hold.

Tour : Alberobello, Ostuni, Locorotondo : Local Guide & Lunch: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lecce.

How much does Tour : Alberobello, Ostuni, Locorotondo : Local Guide & Lunch cost?

    +

Prices start at $120 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lecce usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Tour : Alberobello, Ostuni, Locorotondo : Local Guide & Lunch take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lecce is not rushed.

Is Tour : Alberobello, Ostuni, Locorotondo : Local Guide & Lunch worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 22 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lecce, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Tour : Alberobello, Ostuni, Locorotondo : Local Guide & Lunch?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Tour : Alberobello, Ostuni, Locorotondo : Local Guide & Lunch suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Tour : Alberobello, Ostuni, Locorotondo : Local Guide & Lunch?

    +

Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lecce can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lecce and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Tour : Alberobello, Ostuni, Locorotondo : Local Guide & Lunch start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lecce within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Lecce?

    +

On Outty we rank every Lecce experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include 3 Hour Group Tour by Boat to the Caves of Santa Maria di Leuca, Understand Lecce: History & Local Stories | Small Group Tour, Authentic Puglia Cooking Class in a Local Family Home Near Lecce. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Lecce?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Lecce?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
