Waste of money
This even should be closed if it is raining. It was not raining when we entered 30 Rock. We had 4 tickets to this experience at 66 a piece, and it was really not enjoyed for the price and lack of experience. I understand the rain cannot be controlled, but for the price charged this should not be open to the public with the weather condition.

SKYRIDE AT THE ROCK
Great visuals in the lift , lovely 30s building. I pre- booked the tickets so very short wait, bought tickets for the beam $20 per person but changed them to the skyride which turned out to be the right choice, it’s a 100 foot rotating tower which you can video the manhattan skyline SUPERB ATTRACTION
Response from the operator: Thanks for sharing your experience, shaunym15! We're thrilled you enjoyed the visuals and the Skylift. It's great to hear that you made the right choice and captured those stunning views of the skyline. We appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you back soon!

Please Avoid! Disaster waiting to happen
we booked to go at sunset and we’re so looking forward to it but what actually happened was a very horrible experience. How there hasn’t been a disaster yet is nothing short of a miracle! Because it took so long to get in we missed sunset, this was the least of our problems! The amount of people up on the decks was horrendous. I would put my house on that they were over the amount actually allowed. After standing in a crowd of people (shown in photo, what you don’t see is the same amount of people the other side of the door to. With signs saying ‘incase of a fire use the stairs! How when you can’t get how them!!) to get down the stairs for 20 minutes my son burst out crying asking if we were stuck! A couple advised me there was a lift and see if we could use that. The lady on the lift could see my son was upset and it still took persuasion to let us use it even though it was empty!! She didn’t let us know what floor, so we went up and down a few times until she huffed the floor we needed. When we finally got to the exit I saw a lady who worked there and asked if there was a manager to speak to another security worker shouted ‘please don’t talk to her’ I think when she then saw my face she soon changed her tone. I spoke to a manager who tried to tell me all levels were as they should be admission wise, he did help me with a refund with get our guide. After my conversation had finished the security worker told me she had agreed with everything I had said!! I dread one day we will see on the news a disaster has happened!!
Response from the operator: We sincerely apologize for the experience you and your family had during your visit. We understand how upsetting and overwhelming the crowding, extended wait times, and interactions with our team must have been, particularly when your son became distressed. The safety and well-being of our guests are extremely important to us, and we take concerns like yours seriously. We’re very sorry that your visit did not provide the enjoyable experience you were looking forward to. We would love the opportunity to welcome you and your family back for a much better experience. Please contact us directly so we can learn more about your visit and assist you further.

Why this scores 69
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Top of the Rock Observation Deck New York City Ticket: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for New York.
How much does Top of the Rock Observation Deck New York City Ticket cost?
+
Prices start at $39 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in New York usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Top of the Rock Observation Deck New York City Ticket take?
+
Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in New York is not rushed.
Is Top of the Rock Observation Deck New York City Ticket worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 4,814 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in New York, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Top of the Rock Observation Deck New York City Ticket?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Top of the Rock Observation Deck New York City Ticket suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Top of the Rock Observation Deck New York City Ticket?
+
Around 1,685 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in New York can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in New York and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Top of the Rock Observation Deck New York City Ticket start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central New York within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in New York?
+
New York has more bookable experiences than any other city on Outty, and the quality spread is brutal. Observation decks are commoditised, so we score them on timed-entry reliability and sunset slots. Food tours and borough walks are where the ranking really separates operators, and the top scores in the city all come from small-group guides. On Outty we rank every New York experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Grand Canyon VIP Helicopter Tour, Half-Day Bus Tour of NYC Top Highlights, NYC Bus Tour of Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens: Art, Food & Sports. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit New York?
+
September to early November, and late April through June. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in New York?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
