About this experience
Dedication, history, and unmatched lineage Our clan is the only surviving shinobi samurai line whose ancestors served the Tokugawa Shogunate for 265 years. After 1868, we continued independently to preserve our identity as shinobi. All training tools are handcrafted within the clan. Our forebears were shinobi‑samurai who trained local people and escorted Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1582, marking the start of our recorded history. In this 90‑minute samurai and ninja experience, you follow a traditional flow—ritual, technique, hands‑on practice, and photos—while learning core shinobi‑samurai principles. Your session is led by the 19th‑generation Musashi Clan Daihyo, who provides real‑time interpretation and cultural explanation, supported by extensive international teaching experience. This guidance ensures an experience rooted in authentic lineage, cultural depth, and the atmosphere of a true dojo. If you are joining alone, your booking will be processed as a private lesson.

An Unforgettable Experience for the Whole Family!
If you’re visiting Tokyo, don’t miss the Samurai & Ninja Museum! We started with a guided tour of the museum, and our guide, Meg, was absolutely fantastic. Her energy, enthusiasm, and storytelling brought the history to life and made the tour engaging for both adults and kids. After the tour, we participated in the family-friendly Samurai & Ninja class with Ryo, and I honestly can’t say enough good things about it. It was interactive, exciting, and filled with laughter from start to finish. Ryo was an incredible instructor who made everyone feel comfortable while keeping the experience fun and memorable. This was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. Whether you’re traveling with children or just looking for a unique cultural experience, I highly recommend it. We left with huge smiles, great memories, and a newfound appreciation for Japan’s samurai and ninja traditions!

Perfect blend of history, culture, hands-on experience
This was a wonderful and memorable experience - highly recommend. It was the perfect mix of history and hands-on experience. We learned so much and had a great time. We loved hearing about the clan history, the various weapons, dressing as a ninja, trying some skills out. The woman who owns the dojo (whose descended from a great samurai house) and the gentleman samurai and female scribe were great - so kind and knowledgeable.

This was such a highlight...
This was such a highlight of our trip with our two kids (10 and 12). It was a pleasure to meet everyone at the dojo. Such an educational and unique experience. Our interpreter was so knowledgeable and was part of a long line of samurais. We loved this!

Authentic fun
Our family loved this experience. In a cool part of Tokyo and learn from a real Samurai clan family. Learn about their history, touch and feel weapons, dress like a samurai and learn basic sword movements. Throw stars, blow darts and learn the ways of sneaking around like a ninja. Kids (12 and 14) loved it. So did parents.

Excellent Experience
This was one of our kids’ favorite things we’ve done in Japan. So interesting, educational, interactive and fun. It was a great experience for the whole family, even spectators; I would definitely recommend!
Response from the operator: All of our team members appreciate your kind review. This means a lot to us. Have a nice day.

Why this scores 69
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Tokyo: Real Samurai & Ninja Experience, 80‑Min Hands‑On Session: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tokyo.
How much does Tokyo: Real Samurai & Ninja Experience, 80‑Min Hands‑On Session cost?
+
Prices start at $19800 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tokyo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Tokyo: Real Samurai & Ninja Experience, 80‑Min Hands‑On Session take?
+
Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tokyo is not rushed.
Is Tokyo: Real Samurai & Ninja Experience, 80‑Min Hands‑On Session worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 94 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tokyo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Tokyo: Real Samurai & Ninja Experience, 80‑Min Hands‑On Session?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Tokyo: Real Samurai & Ninja Experience, 80‑Min Hands‑On Session suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 1.5-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Tokyo: Real Samurai & Ninja Experience, 80‑Min Hands‑On Session?
+
Around 33 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tokyo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tokyo and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Tokyo: Real Samurai & Ninja Experience, 80‑Min Hands‑On Session start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tokyo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Tokyo?
+
Tokyo is less a city than a stack of neighborhoods with completely different opening hours. A guided food crawl through Shinjuku's Omoide Yokocho gets you past the no-tourist curtains, while the day trips west to Hakone and Fuji need an early start to be worth the fare. Our ranking weighs guide quality heavily here, because in Tokyo the guide is the product. On Outty we rank every Tokyo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tokyo Shinjuku Chopsticks Making Class, Tokyo : Asakusa Chopsticks Making Class, Shinjuku Night Food and Bar Crawl. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tokyo?
+
Late March to May for blossom, October to November for clear Fuji views. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tokyo?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
