Highly recommend, chill & informative experience, customizable
Loved the experience! We went to two teahouses and a tea accessory store, and got to try all the teas that we wanted, from pu-er to local greens from Mt Mengding and Mt Emei, and even a few varieties of teas that we were curious about from Yunnan. The tea masters at both stores were friendly & knowledgeable, and we never felt pressured to buy, but we did because the teas were delicious and at an amazing price. Jerry was an awesome host - friendly, helpful and even negotiated on our behalf. Since it was a private tour, we got to customize it based on what teas we wanted to try.
Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you for participating in our Tea Market Experience! We hope you enjoyed immersing yourself in the traditional tea trade and learning about wholesale practices. Share your tea purchases with @ChilliCoolChina using #ChilliCoolTeaMarket! It was wonderful having you with us, and we'd be thrilled to see you again. Happy tea trading! Lance Chilli Cool Team

Amazing experience, couldn't recommend enough
Such a great and informative experience. Myself and my girlfriend went to the tea market and were very overwhelmed by the scale of the shops and options so we booked this tour to go back the next day. We're so glad we went with the tour, we learned so much and had a great time laughing and joking with all the of the sellers over great tea. Jerry had the answer to every question we asked, we wish we had more time in Chengdu because we would have booked his cooking classes as well. Another big bonus is with the help of Jerry to price things we probably even ended up saving money on tea and tea sets hahah. Definitely a must do tour while in Chengdu, great memories and great tea.
Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you for joining our Tea Market Adventure! We hope you had a fantastic time navigating through tea stalls and learning about tea grading. Tag @ChilliCoolChina in your tea haul videos - we might feature you on our page! It was a pleasure having you with us, and we'd love to see you again in future sessions. Amazing - a Door to Chinese Culture - So Friendly so helpful so generous
This was an absolute fabulous experience. Gerry met me at my hotel and we took a taxi to the Wholesale Tea Market. Gerry introduced the history of the market really well. We visited a number of tea sellers. Gerry did an amazing job of interpreting and working with the sellers to explain the tea and taste and significance of ritual and equipment. We visited 3 tea sellers. They all provided many samples and we happy to talk in detail about their tea and brewing. There was absolutely no pressure and I want to repeat absolutely no pressure to purchase product. I did buy an Shu Ripe Pu-erh cake because I liked the tea a lot. It now home and its still excellent. I also purchased some magnificent Jasmine tea and some Mandarin Oranges pair with Yunnan Pu-erh. I have 15 of these, 3 have been used and they are magnificent. We also got a Gaiwan tea set and Gerry negotiated a fair price. Really great experience. If you have any interest in Tea,. culture, growing and brewing this is well well worth the morning. Thank you Gerry and apologies for the extended dealy in getting this posted.

Excellent tea experience
The tea market tour was an amazing experience! In the tea shops we visited, we were welcomed very hospitably, were served different types of tea and explained the origin of the tea, brewing method and drinking culture. Finally, we were shown a huge shop selling Chinese ceramics. The guide was extremely helpful, very kind and gave us an incredible amount of information and was very patient, taking a lot of time and adjusting to our tea needs. Highly recommended!

Why this scores 65
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Three-Hour Private Chengdu Tea Wholesale Market Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Chengdu.
How much does Three-Hour Private Chengdu Tea Wholesale Market Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $31 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Chengdu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Three-Hour Private Chengdu Tea Wholesale Market Tour take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Chengdu is not rushed.
Is Three-Hour Private Chengdu Tea Wholesale Market Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Chengdu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Three-Hour Private Chengdu Tea Wholesale Market Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Three-Hour Private Chengdu Tea Wholesale Market Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Three-Hour Private Chengdu Tea Wholesale Market Tour?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Chengdu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Chengdu and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Three-Hour Private Chengdu Tea Wholesale Market Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Chengdu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Chengdu?
+
On Outty we rank every Chengdu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Chengdu Cooking Class with a Local Market Visit, Private Chengdu Day Tour: Giant Pandas and Jinsha Site Museum, Tuktuk Food Tour Through Chengdu's Local Eats. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Chengdu?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Chengdu?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
