A Five-Star Experience in the Heart of the Mountains
An absolutely fantastic experience! We are five Italian young travelers and we had an unforgettable experience. The scenery was breathtaking, the organization was flawless, and the food was excellent. Every member of the staff was professional, courteous, and incredibly attentive. Our guide, Erick, was patient, friendly, and always available to help. He shared so many fascinating stories and interesting facts with us throughout the journey, making the experience even more special. We truly enjoyed a five-star level of service at 5,000 meters above sea level. The lodges were incredibly comfortable, with soft bed linens, warm blankets, and all the comforts we needed. The attention to guests was exceptional from beginning to end. We felt truly cared for at every moment. A huge thank you to Erick and the entire team for making this adventure so memorable. We highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable journey!

For some years we dreamed of visiting Peru and trekking with Andean Lodges, we chose The Apu 5D/4N road was certainly the best decision, the experience and landscapes are beautiful, you can feel so at peace with so much beauty, every day of our trekking we were exhausted but marveled with what we lived. Everyone was so friendly and made our whole trip exceptional... from booking, briefing, our guides, the people who accompanied us with our luggage, excellent and delicious food. The hostels very comfortable and with excellent facilities. Thank you for such a pleasant experience you have a beautiful country and we would definitely like to come back. 100% recommended!
It's been a while since I thought a picture said more than 1000 words. However, on this occasion it is not enough to have one or many photos, as you can not record all the way, nature, experiences and emotions lived on the Apu Ausangate Way. You better live it and enjoy it. I recommend them 100 percent, for the attention to detail of all the staff so you can enjoy every moment, the views of the road (nature) and the luxurious lodges where you enjoy a hot shower , delicious food and sleep in very comfortable beds after the arduous daily walk. Last photo taken by our Erick Guide during the walk.

Multiday trekking in Ausangate area
Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teenagers) did the 5-day / 4-night tour in Ausangate area with the Andean Lodges. It is a very unique experience. Each day and high pass brought new and amazing views, varied scenery and wildlife - from viscachas hopping around the rocks to a condor soaring above the clouds. Our guide Mathias deserves a special mention - he was patient, caring and very knowledgeable both in terms of the area and its people and customs (excellent English was appreciated too!). He also gave us some useful tips on Andean hiking style and use of hiking poles so now we are great converts. The rest of the team - the cook, the housekeeper, and lama and horse carers were all from local population and looked wonderfully after us as well, nothing was ever too much trouble. In terms of practical advice for others that may be considering the trek: The terrain is suitable for most levels, only moderate fitness is required, poles are helpful but not essential (we found them useful on downhills but also generally in keeping the walking rhythm), good hiking shoes and the usual hiking layers, hat, sunglasses are a must. The weather in July was nice and sunny, you can sometimes hike in just a base layer, but the wind can be chilly going over the passes. At night it gets cold (down to -5 degC), so if you like to do a bit of star gazing make sure you have a padded jacket, hats, gloves etc. (the stars are nothing short of spectacular!). The altitude is a concern (you are mostly at 4500-4800m above sea level with a few passes at ca. 5000m), so do take aclimatization seriously, spend a few days in and around Cusco beforehand (there is plenty to do!), and consider bringing with you altitude sickness medication in case you experience headache and loss of appetite. There will be plenty of food and snacks provided so there is no need to take additional provisions with you. And away from a few practical observations - this trip is simply amazing, if you love the mountains don't overthink it, just go!

The Trail Of The Apu 5 Days and 4 Nights Fixed Departure: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.
How much does The Trail Of The Apu 5 Days and 4 Nights Fixed Departure cost?
+
Prices start at $3,870 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does The Trail Of The Apu 5 Days and 4 Nights Fixed Departure take?
+
Plan for about 120 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.
Is The Trail Of The Apu 5 Days and 4 Nights Fixed Departure worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 47 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule The Trail Of The Apu 5 Days and 4 Nights Fixed Departure?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is The Trail Of The Apu 5 Days and 4 Nights Fixed Departure suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 120-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book The Trail Of The Apu 5 Days and 4 Nights Fixed Departure?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 120-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does The Trail Of The Apu 5 Days and 4 Nights Fixed Departure start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cusco?
+
On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Full-Day Humantay Lake Trek (Meals Included), Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cusco?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cusco?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

+
