Ponte di Rialto
Fondamenta del Buso It was the little dock from where clients took the gondola ferry to go to the red light district.(the word "buso" in Venetian also has the meaning of female sex).Venice, a land of merchants, a port where goods and people from all over the Mediterranean converged, was in fact also known for its beauty. Not the architectural or artistic ones, but those in flesh and blood. Just from "Calle del Buso" opens what could be called the sex itinerary, which allowed the inhabitants of the lagoon and the many adventurers to immerse themselves in the pleasures of the city, including the "graces" of courtesans and prostitutes. In short, the ancient stones of the Rialto Bridge, if they could talk, they would have so many spicy stories to tell to be able to fill a beautiful tome, and maybe even get a good script for a red light film, what do you say?

San Polo
The Tits Bridge and ‘Carampane' in Venice In San Polo in Venice, there is a bridge with a very unique name: the Bridge of Tits. In fact, near the bridge there were several brothels and prostitutes often came to their windows ‘exposing the goods'. At the time of the Venice Republic this was a red light neighbourhood, regulated by the government in a very precise way. It seems that the government of the Republic imposed prostitutes to show their breasts to entice passers-by; homosexuality was widespread among Venetians and the government tried various ways to counter it. Also, not far away is the Rio terà of Carampane, another name connected with the oldest profession in the world. In fact, there stood the homes of Mr. Rampani, which were used as a hospice for old and retired prostitutes. In Venetian cà means ‘house', and so from that moment on, the word carampana indicated an old untidy woman, a term which still used today.

Famous for their appearance, the courtesans were used by artists as models in paintings, especially where female nudity appeared, perhaps in mythological or biblical contexts. There were also numerous paintings that depicted them individually, such as those of Veronica Franco, famous for her poems. An interesting historical tour of Venice
Nadia gave us a great intro to Venezia and its past and the history of the Courtesans. We walked all around Venice and saw secret corners and frescoes. And at the end Nadia taught us to navigate the vsporettos.

Nadia was an excellent guide, this was our 2nd tour and it did not disappoint. Very informative and thoroughly enjoyable. We would highly recommend and can’t wait to return
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind review and for joining us again! It means a lot to know that your second tour was just as enjoyable as the first. The story of Venice's courtesans is one of my favorite parts of the city's history because it reveals a side of Venice that often surprises people. Their influence, independence, and place in Venetian society make for a fascinating journey into the city's past. I'm so glad you found the tour informative and enjoyable, and I truly appreciate your recommendation. It was a pleasure spending time with you, and I hope we'll have the chance to welcome you back to Venice again soon. Warm regards, Nadia Friend in Venice

Why this scores 49

The Secret World of Venetian Courtesans Friendinvenice: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Venice.
How much does The Secret World of Venetian Courtesans Friendinvenice cost?
+
Prices start at $400 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Venice usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does The Secret World of Venetian Courtesans Friendinvenice take?
+
Plan for about 3.3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Venice is not rushed.
Is The Secret World of Venetian Courtesans Friendinvenice worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 49 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Venice, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule The Secret World of Venetian Courtesans Friendinvenice?
+

Is The Secret World of Venetian Courtesans Friendinvenice suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book The Secret World of Venetian Courtesans Friendinvenice?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Venice can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Venice and add a light layer if any part of the 3.3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does The Secret World of Venetian Courtesans Friendinvenice start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Venice within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Venice?
+
On Outty we rank every Venice experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Pasta and Tiramisu Cooking Class with Wine in Venice, Eating Venice Small Group Food & Drinks Tour, Venice Bacaro Food Tour: Eat and Drink like a Venetian. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Venice?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Venice?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
