About this experience

A great wine is made with a great grape. A simple principle, but the basis of oenology. La Scolca will take you to know this grape and this wine, its history as the cradle of Gavi, and the innovative spirit that gave life to its sparkling wines, strictly Metodo Classico. All this takes shape in a guided tasting of three symbolic labels: Classic Method Soldiers Brut, Gavi dei Gavi® Label Black and Piedmont Pinot Noir DOC. From the vineyard to the glass, and finally to your senses.

Wine tasting in Gavi

Guido our guide spoke excellent English, he was very knowledgeable, pleasant and easy to listen to. The tour was informative and enjoyable, would recommend if you want to get to know a local Gavi wine producer.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! It was a pleasure sharing the story of La Scolca and the world of Gavi with you. We're delighted you enjoyed the tour and found it both informative and enjoyable. Thank you for your recommendation—we hope to welcome you back again soon!

Beautiful winery and fantastic visit

La Scolca is a beautiful winery. The represent the best of Gavi wines including metodo classico and riper wines. Guido conducted our tour and tasting with a fantastic mix of knowledge (of all wines Gavi and beyond) and enthusiasm. I would highly recommend to pay the extra € 5 to taste an extra glass, as the wines are all wonderful.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted you enjoyed discovering the different expressions of Gavi, from our Metodo Classico to our richer and more structured wines. It was a true pleasure to share this experience with you. We hope to welcome you back soon at La Scolca!

Not the best for buesniess!! You must spend 70 euro to clear it!! I don t recomand it !! Go to proseco area , more bette

Yes, it was nice, but not very very easy to make arangements to them So , for tasting in area there are k, not cheap, taste good, i recomand to negociated hard! But not the open mind not the best for buesniess

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We would like to clarify that our hospitality services — visits, tours, and wine tastings — are completely separate from our export activities and B2B operations. The experiences offered at the estate follow fixed prices that reflect the wines served, the setting, and the time dedicated by our staff. These services cannot be negotiated, as they are not connected in any way to commercial or wholesale agreements. Additionally, out of respect for our partners, all international sales are handled exclusively through our official local importers. We do not sell products outside their established networks within their respective countries. For this reason, your comments about business practices and export negotiations do not apply to the context of a wine tasting experience and may create confusion for future visitors. We appreciate your visit and are glad to hear you enjoyed the wines, and we remain at your disposal should you wish to return for a tasting or to receive accurate information about our hospitality services.

The Scolca Experience: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Genoa.

How much does The Scolca Experience cost?

+

Prices start at $25 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Genoa usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does The Scolca Experience take?

+

Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Genoa is not rushed.

Is The Scolca Experience worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 23 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Genoa, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule The Scolca Experience?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is The Scolca Experience suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 18. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 1-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book The Scolca Experience?

+

Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Genoa can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Genoa and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does The Scolca Experience start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Genoa within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Genoa?

+

On Outty we rank every Genoa experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Genoa Small-Group Food Tour with Full Meal & Local Food Expert, Rooftop Cooking Class in Genoa: Pesto, Fresh Pasta & Wine, Genoa Food, Wine Tasting & History Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Genoa?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Genoa?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
