What you get

    About this experience

Booking THE PORTO ESSENTIALS Wine & Food Tour with Pedro & o Vinho will allow you to discover the secrets behind Portuguese wines & food and how this relation influences our culture, history and daily food habits. This tour will be guided by Pedro himself, a WSET level 2 wine lover who grew up in the Portuguese wine industry and dedicated half of their career to working and learning with some of Portugal's most recognized wine producers. Pedro is passionate about studying the Portuguese wine & food culture and how this liquid jewel influences the perception of values, tastings and flavours from Portugal`s food scene. During the tour, you will have the opportunity to travel through Porto's history and culture, taste traditional and daily finger food, why Pedro presented them on the menu and how these dishes are the perfect pairing with specific wines or beers. As we said in Portugal, the best friendships are born seated at a table, sharing comfort food and a glass of wine!

    Pedro was the the nicest...

Pedro was the the nicest and most knowledgeable guide we have ever use in 30 years of travel. He surpassed our expectations. His knowledge of locations to go to and food and pairing with wines was marvelous. We arrived as tourists and left as close friends. Mel and Roberta S.

An unforgettable Douro Valley experience with Pedro & o Vinho

From the moment Pedro picked us up from our accommodation, my partner we knew we were in for something special. He welcomed us with such warmth and kindness that we instantly felt like we were spending the day with a good friend rather than a tour guide. The drive to the Douro Valley flew by because Pedro filled it with fascinating stories about Porto, the Douro Valley, Portuguese culture, and the history of wine. His passion is contagious, and his knowledge is incredible. We learned so much while laughing and enjoying every minute of the journey. One of our favourite moments was visiting a small, family-run winery for our first tasting. It was authentic, intimate, and absolutely beautiful. The wines were amazing, and it felt like discovering a hidden gem. Every part of the day was thoughtfully planned. The two winery visits were outstanding, the scenic train ride was such a fun experience, and the traditional boat cruise along the Douro River was simply magical. Sipping Port wine on the boat while listening to beautiful music and taking in the breathtaking scenery was one of the most romantic moments of our entire trip. Pedro has a real gift for making people feel welcome and cared for. He somehow knows exactly what will make his guests happy, and every detail reflects how much he loves what he does. His professionalism, kindness, and genuine friendship made this experience truly unforgettable. Without a doubt, this was one of the absolute highlights of our holiday in Portugal. It's a day that we will treasure forever, and we are so grateful that we chose to tour with Pedro. If you're visiting Porto or the Douro Valley, do yourself a favour and book with Pedro o Vinho. You won't just experience amazing wines and spectacular scenery, you'll make memories that will stay with you long after your trip is over. Thank you, Pedro, for your kindness, your friendship, and for giving us one of the happiest and most memorable days of our Portugal adventure. We hope to see you in Australia soon! 🇦🇺🍷❤️

    Best Porto Food Tour

Pedro was the best!! Would definitely recommend this walking tour at the beginning of your Porto trip. Pedro was very friendly, providing historical facts while touring the city and bringing us away from the tourist traps to some true local gems serving Portuguese staples. We tried a ton of food and wine, definitely worth the price. He also gave many great recommendations for the rest of our trip.

    Best tour in Porto!

Incredible food and wine tour with a true local. Pedro did an excellent job of weaving in history with food and wine stops. I’m already planning my next tour with him to the Douro Valley.

THE PORTO ESSENTIALS - Wine & Food Tour ( Private ): questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Porto.

How much does THE PORTO ESSENTIALS - Wine & Food Tour ( Private ) cost?

    +

Prices start at $15 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Porto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does THE PORTO ESSENTIALS - Wine & Food Tour ( Private ) take?

    +

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Porto is not rushed.

Is THE PORTO ESSENTIALS - Wine & Food Tour ( Private ) worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 17 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Porto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule THE PORTO ESSENTIALS - Wine & Food Tour ( Private )?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is THE PORTO ESSENTIALS - Wine & Food Tour ( Private ) suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book THE PORTO ESSENTIALS - Wine & Food Tour ( Private )?

    +

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Porto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Porto and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does THE PORTO ESSENTIALS - Wine & Food Tour ( Private ) start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Porto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Porto?

    +

On Outty we rank every Porto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Unvanquished Tour in Porto City Center, Porto's #1 Walking Tour, Small Group Geres National Park Full Day with picnic from Porto. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Porto?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Porto?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
