Fantastic Tour - Ana is A+

Ana is fabulous. She communicated with me several times prior to the tour answering all of my questions. Ana suggested starting as early as possible to get ahead of the crowds. We were able to get on the first tender and met her at 7:45. It was perfect. We have a more leisurely walking tour through the old town and Ana is a wealth of knowledge about Montenegro’s history and all that has influenced the country over the many centuries including the more recent history that she, herself, has lived through. After the tour of the old town, Ana had a driver arranged who took us to Perast. There we got on the water taxi to visit the Lady of the Rocks church. What a fascinating place to see and hear the history. We were so amazed at the inside of the church. The main area with the alter has a ceiling that is like a mini Sistine Chapel. It is well worth going there. We stopped for coffee and the local cake and ice cream. I think we were all skeptical but once we had the cake we wanted more. We then returned to the old town and said our goodbye’s. We highly recommend Ana. You will not be disappointed. She has years of experience guiding travelers and many contacts should you have time and want to do other things. Thank you Ana!!!! See you next time.

A fabulous day with a fabulous guide!!

What a wonderful day in Montenegro with Ana! She was a fabulous guide and showed us all the beautiful places to see in this gem of a country. Her knowledge of all the interesting history was amazing and opened our eyes to this small but mighty country. She had a great car and her English was really good (she spent some time in New York). She was just fun to be with and made our day one to remember. Highly recommend Ana as a guide. It was well worth it!

    Great Family Day in Kotor

Sanja was an amazing tour guide and we loved her personality. She really knew her facts and took great pride in her country. We were a party of 10 with an age range of 16-55, and Sanja was able to entertain all of us. Our kids said it was one of their favorite days on our 10 day cruise. We had a lovely time walking through Old Town, and boating the Bay was a highlight. We enjoyed stopping for a swim near the Blue Caves, seeing the submarine tunnels, and touring Our Lady of the Rock. A seaside luncheon was the perfect setting on a hot summer day and the restaurant was delicious. All arrangements were made in advance and everyone was punctual down to the boat driver, lunch, and return to ship. Highly recommend. We were a bit nervous to be booking an all day excursion outside of the cruise ship offerings, but Sanja made sure we were back in time without any worries.

The Old Captain's Smile Tour in Kotor: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kotor.

How much does The Old Captain's Smile Tour in Kotor cost?

    +

Prices start at $280 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kotor usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does The Old Captain's Smile Tour in Kotor take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kotor is not rushed.

Is The Old Captain's Smile Tour in Kotor worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kotor, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule The Old Captain's Smile Tour in Kotor?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is The Old Captain's Smile Tour in Kotor suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book The Old Captain's Smile Tour in Kotor?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kotor can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kotor and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does The Old Captain's Smile Tour in Kotor start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kotor within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kotor?

    +

On Outty we rank every Kotor experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Great Montenegro Tour-Lovcen NP,Mausoleum Lovcen,River of Crnojevic,Sveti Stefan, Kotor Bay Escape: Blue Cave, Beach & Swimming Time, Exclusive Blue Cave Kotor Swim, Mamula&Lady of the Rock 3 Hour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kotor?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kotor?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
