    Review of Meet the Province

Sophors treats guests like family. The cooking class was informative as it introduced fundamentals of the Khmer cooking. I would recommend to other travelers looking to experience the rural lifestyle of Cambodia. The living accommodations were wonderful.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your recommendation and for your support and me my family so happy and love to met you too Thank you so much 🙏 😊 Sophors

    A must do experience

What a great idea. We went over the New Year period and I'm so glad we did. Beautiful home well kept and even a jacuzzi. Great hostess that made us feel like we were part of the family. Highly recommend

Response from the operator: Thanks a lot for your recommendation. Happy to hear you had such a great time and love my place. Your review and kind words really support my business thanks for that. Sophors.

It feels like staying at a relative's house in the countryside.

This facility is located across the Mekong River by a ferry that is used almost exclusively by locals. There is a course that only offers a Khmer cooking experience, but you can also stay overnight. I highly recommend staying overnight. The owner and his family looked after me, and I had a magical time that felt like I was staying at a relative's house in the countryside. Also, if you apply through TripAdvisor, please install WhatsApp in advance. Even if you click on the ticket link, the address of the facility does not appear, so even if you give directions to the driver, he will not know the way. It is best to have the owner give the driver directions via WhatsApp.

Response from the operator: Hi Mikiko, thanks soo much for your kind words and review. So happy you stayed with us and had a great time. We indeed connect and help people find our place through WhatsApp. Another way would be to type Meet The Province in google maps and to show this to the TukTuk driver. Very happy you reached our place in the end and we could spent great time together. Hope you enjoyed Cambodia and if you ever return back, we hope you come visit us again. Have a great one, Sophors

The Mekong Village Cooking Escape: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Phnom Penh.

How much does The Mekong Village Cooking Escape cost?

    +

Prices start at $39 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Phnom Penh usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does The Mekong Village Cooking Escape take?

    +

Plan for about 24 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Phnom Penh is not rushed.

Is The Mekong Village Cooking Escape worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Phnom Penh, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule The Mekong Village Cooking Escape?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is The Mekong Village Cooking Escape suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 24-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book The Mekong Village Cooking Escape?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Phnom Penh can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Phnom Penh and add a light layer if any part of the 24-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does The Mekong Village Cooking Escape start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Phnom Penh within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Phnom Penh?

    +

On Outty we rank every Phnom Penh experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Half Day Tuol Sleng S21 and Choeung Ek Killing Field Tour, The Killing Field and Toul Sleng Genocide Museum (S21) Tour, Killing field and Toul Sleng genocide museum Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Phnom Penh?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Phnom Penh?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
