Ten out of Ten!
If there’s only one thing that you’d do in Kyoto then the 8hour bike tour has to be one. It was my first time in Japan back in April and I still to this day tell my peers that the Grand Loop was the highlight of my trip. Roberto was such a great guide as well as a good person to connect with. His information was on point, he had the time to answer our questions, he gave us a bit of freedom but also kept the group safe from start to finish. The route was incredible as I got to see the city through those lenses. I got to experience the essence of the city and culture of the Japanese getting to see how magnificent those temples, gardens, streets, homes, neighborhoods and people were. I connected with the spirituality of the place and I would do the bike tour all over again next time I’m in town. Thank you Roberto for such an unforgettable experience. All and all ten out of ten!

A Totally Different and Great Introduction of Kyoto
This was definitely one of the best tours I’ve been on. Biking through Kyoto was a real experience and we got to see so much of Kyoto and the neighborhoods between. I would highly suggest this for a great introduction tour of Kyoto. We went to 5 major stops listed, but there was so many shrines and temples that you can only see by being on a bicycle going between places. Our guide was Robb and he really knew the area, talking with locals, leading us through many places in Kyoto like the rice fields, rivers, and neighborhoods you would never see in a bus or train. Kyoto has so many temples and charm that you don’t see without going on a bike ride. The ride was 27 miles in 8 hours on mostly easy terrain. Nothing that can’t be impossible on and my 71 year old mother was able to do it with the electrical bike option. Lunch was filling and delicious, while breaks included ice cream and local coffee/matcha shops. The crowds were easy and Robb kept us from the busy streets. I would also recommend wearing some sunscreen even on cloudy days as you are outside most of the day. We came back realizing our Irish skin was looking pretty red.
Response from the operator: We’re thrilled to hear this was one of the best tours you’ve experienced! The Full Day Tour is designed to show not only Kyoto’s major highlights, but also the neighborhoods, rivers, rice fields, temples, and shrines you discover while riding between them. We’re glad Rob’s local knowledge helped bring that side of Kyoto to life. It’s also wonderful that the e-bike option made the full ride enjoyable for your 71-year-old mother. Thank you for the fantastic feedback! We look forward to hosting you on your next visit! Kind regards, Kyoto Bike Tour

The Best Cycling Tour I’ve Ever Done – Ask for Rob!
I’ve done cycling tours all over the world, and this was hands down the best cycling tour I’ve ever done. What really sets this tour apart is Rob. He takes his role as a guide incredibly seriously, and it shows from start to finish. He is extremely knowledgeable, engaging throughout the entire tour, and has such a great way of bringing each historic area we visited to life. Rather than simply giving you facts, he tells the stories behind the places in a way that is interesting, memorable, and genuinely enjoyable. The whole experience was fantastic from beginning to end. A 10/10 tour, without question. More than anything, if you’re considering booking this tour, I would 100% recommend asking for Rob. He is genuinely the best tour guide I’ve ever had, and he made the experience one we’ll remember for a long time. Couldn’t recommend him highly enough! - Tara 🇮🇪
Response from the operator: Tara, thank you for such an amazing review! We’re thrilled to hear that after cycling tours around the world, your day exploring Kyoto with us stands out as the best. We put a lot of thought into creating a route that combines Kyoto’s iconic sights with its history, stories, and lesser-known corners, and our guides are a huge part of bringing that experience to life. We’re so happy Rob made the day so memorable for you, and we’ll be sure to share your kind words with him. Thank you for riding with us! Kind regards, Kyoto Bike Tour

Wonderful day cycling past Kyoto's highlights
Exploring a city by bike lets you experience it in a completely different way, and this fantastic tour proved exactly that! It was a very hot day, but being on the bike gave us a refreshing breeze along the way. We had an amazing guide, Cas, who was knowledgeable, kept a great pace, and made the tour both fun and informative. We had a wonderful day cycling past Kyoto's highlights (and Cas showed some hiden gems as well). This is a tour you absolutely shouldn't miss!
Response from the operator: It is great to hear you had a wonderful day exploring Kyoto with Cas! Experiencing the city by bike is a great way to connect the major highlights while discovering quieter streets and hidden gems along the way. We’re happy Cas’s knowledge, pacing, and energy made the full-day ride both fun and informative, even in the summer heat. Thank you for for sharing your experience and the fantastic recommendation! Kind regards, Kyoto Bike Tour

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kyoto.
How much does The Kyoto Grand Loop: Full-Day Kyoto Bike Tour (E-bike option) cost?
+
Prices start at $181 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kyoto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does The Kyoto Grand Loop: Full-Day Kyoto Bike Tour (E-bike option) take?

Is The Kyoto Grand Loop: Full-Day Kyoto Bike Tour (E-bike option) worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 91 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 584 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Kyoto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.
Can I cancel or reschedule The Kyoto Grand Loop: Full-Day Kyoto Bike Tour (E-bike option)?

How far in advance should I book The Kyoto Grand Loop: Full-Day Kyoto Bike Tour (E-bike option)?
+
Around 204 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kyoto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kyoto and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does The Kyoto Grand Loop: Full-Day Kyoto Bike Tour (E-bike option) start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kyoto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kyoto?
+
On Outty we rank every Kyoto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kyoto Ghost Tour: Dark Tales, Urban Legends, Bamboo Forest Night, Kyoto : Chopsticks Making Workshop with Engraving Option in Gion, Kyoto: Gion Hidden Gems & Geisha Culture Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kyoto?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kyoto?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
