Perfect experience

Absolutely perfect sushi-making workshop experience. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere is calm and relaxed—everything was perfect. It’s a private experience that I highly recommend. It will remain one of the best memories of our trip. A big thank you to the owner, who does everything to perfection.

Best experience!

We had the best experience, made sushi with our two kids. The two ladies were so sweet. You must go!

Response from the operator: Dear chenn20, Thank you so much for your wonderful review and enthusiastic recommendation. We are delighted to hear that your family had such a great experience making sushi together. We always enjoy welcoming families, and seeing children get involved and become budding young sushi chefs is one of the most enjoyable parts of our workshops. We hope your two children had as much fun making their sushi as they did eating it afterwards! Thank you again for choosing Atelier SUSHI as part of your time in Kyoto. We hope the experience remains a happy family memory for many years to come. Atelier SUSHI

This class is an absolute must when visiting Kyoto!

Definitely the highlight of our Japan trip! It was a fantastic experience and we were so warmly welcomed! Both instructors were full of knowledge, not just about sushi and cooking but also about Kyoto and the history of Japan. We received some fabulous recommendations of things we would not have done, unless recommend by a local. This class is a must when visiting Kyoto! I'm looking forward to my next class- when I'm next in Japan. Maggie and Hayden

Response from the operator: Dear Maggie G, Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review. We are especially happy to hear that the workshop became the highlight of your Japan trip. We are also very pleased that you enjoyed the conversations and recommendations as much as the sushi making itself. One of the things we value most about welcoming visitors to Kyoto is being able to share some of the places, stories, and experiences that are perhaps less obvious to visitors. It is also wonderful to hear that you are already looking forward to joining us again on your next trip to Japan. We would be delighted to welcome you back! Thank you again for choosing Atelier SUSHI and for recommending us to other travelers. We look forward to seeing you again in Kyoto one day. Atelier SUSHI

The Original Small-Group Sushi Making Class in Kyoto: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kyoto.

How much does The Original Small-Group Sushi Making Class in Kyoto cost?

+

Prices start at $12500 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kyoto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does The Original Small-Group Sushi Making Class in Kyoto take?

+

Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kyoto is not rushed.

Is The Original Small-Group Sushi Making Class in Kyoto worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 80 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 591 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Kyoto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule The Original Small-Group Sushi Making Class in Kyoto?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is The Original Small-Group Sushi Making Class in Kyoto suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 1.5-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book The Original Small-Group Sushi Making Class in Kyoto?

+

Around 207 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kyoto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kyoto and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does The Original Small-Group Sushi Making Class in Kyoto start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kyoto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kyoto?

+

On Outty we rank every Kyoto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kyoto : Gion Make Your Own Chopsticks with Engraving Option, Award-Winning Authentic Ramen Making Experience in Kyoto, Hidden Kyoto E-Biking tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kyoto?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kyoto?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
