Memorable experience
Great tour We visited Brasov, Sighisoara and Maramures. Each place is so unique and has its own character. Glad that we have Gelu, who escorted us throughout the tour. He is so passionate about the history and the country. I learn a lot on Romania. A very memorable experience.

Freeze: great guide at the top!
Gelu is a great guide! He knows everything and tells all the anecdotes he knows very well. Without him, we would not have learned and discovered so much. It was exciting! I highly recommend Gelu and thank him for this trip!

Gelu Rocks!
WOW. What a fabulous trip. Our family just finished a three day tour with Gelu and Vlad. We love Romania! More exactly, we loved experiencing Romania with two wonderful guides. I was apprehensive about visiting due to the language barrier, we only speak English, but my experience exceeded expectations. Romania is a very beautiful country with great people and fantastic food. I am so grateful to Gelu for his experience and educational support. We could not have done it without him! Thanks, Gelu!
Response from the operator: Dear Kelly, it's so cold in Bucharest right now. And I remember the perfect, late-October day on the Transfăgărășan mountain road, when we left SIbiu for Bucharest: so sunny, warm, and so quiet... that you could believe that the traffic had already being stopped and we would somehow have passed the barrier without realizing it, as we were alone there... with the mama-bear and her cub on the way down. Warmest wishes to all the family, hope to see you again, and to cantinue our talks just as calmly, lovingly, even with different perspectives, about the elections that will have been concluded, about peace restored but only in justice and truth, because great sacrifices have been made, and they will not have been in vain.

Gelu was such an amazing guide! His English was very good and he was very knowledgeable about the history of the area! The castles, cities and everything else we visited were beautiful!

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bucharest.
How much does The essence of Saxon Transylvania - 3-day tour of its citadels cost?
+

How far in advance should I book The essence of Saxon Transylvania - 3-day tour of its citadels?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bucharest can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bucharest and add a light layer if any part of the 72-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does The essence of Saxon Transylvania - 3-day tour of its citadels start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bucharest within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Bucharest?
+
On Outty we rank every Bucharest experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Real tour of Communism, Bucharest Highlights Walking Tour, Top Gear Road, Small-group max 7 pax with Pick-up, Transfăgărăşan. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Bucharest?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Bucharest?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
