Looking for the best tour company for Croatia
We recently returned home after a magnificent week visiting Croatia. We were a family of four adults wishing to be introduced to the country. I had studied many tour companies and reviewed their itineraries and then checked comments about them on TripAdvisor and other sites before choosing Zico Tours. I am so glad that I did! The planning phase via email was very pleasant as Anna Maria responded promptly and efficiently as she learned what we wished to see and do and also what we preferred to miss. It was obvious that we could not possibly see everything Croatia has to offer in such a limited time we had available. She quickly created an amazing itinerary and selected terrific hotels that were each individually unique and yet varied but clean, quiet, and located perfectly. Zico picked us up from the airport and brought us directly to our hotel and at the end took us back to the airport. We arrived on different dates, yet they assisted everyone without a question or extra charge. Most importantly, each day we had the same personal guide, Igor, who was not only knowledgeable about Croatian history, but educated us about its culture and people. His manner was pleasant and full of humor. We all felt comfortable and safe in his presence. In addition, he went out of his way to assist us without us asking. For example, the sole on my sneakers became separated while we were hiking in the Plitvice lakes. Igor, quietly, at the first opportunity, raced to purchase super glue which repaired my shoes. I could continue to praise him and the Zico organization for pages. But suffice it to say, this local small tour company watched over us throughout the trip, assuring us of a most wonderful experience. I have never had such kind, considerate and efficient service elsewhere and highly recommend them.
Response from the operator: Dear Paul, Thank you so much for taking the time to write this wonderful, detailed review for us. We all were touched by your kind words. It was a pleasure for Annamaria to plan this trip with you. We know it takes a lot of time to research and find the right agency, so we are glad you felt safe choosing Zico Tours. We always try our best to make the logistics easy, like the airport pickups, hotel choices, transfers, so your family can just enjoy the vacation. Thank you again for supporting our small local company and recommending us to others. It means a lot to us. We wish you and your family all the best! Best regards,

Fantastic 8 days
My wife and I visited Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, and Bosnia with a private driver, arranged by Zico Tours. Everything about the tour was excellent. We actually had to reschedule our tour on the very day we were due to leave. Adam, the owner of Zico, rearranged all our hotels, tours and driver, with the utmost of kindness, patience, and efficiency. Adam met us in Zagreb, gave us a walking tour of the old city, as well as dinner our first night in Croatia. The following day, our guide, Nenad, picked us up, and for the next week, led us through an absolutely beautiful, totally enjoyable trip. Nenad was knowledgeable, funny, always timely, and went out of his way to be helpful in every way possible. He was a total delight. We toured Lake Bled and Ljubljana in Slovenia, and coastal cities in Croatia. We also hiked at Plitvice Lakes National Park, which is an absolutely gorgeous don't miss for any visit to Croatia. We visited Split, Mostar, [in Bosnia], Dubrovnik, and finally, Zotor, Montenegro. Adam arranged City walking tours in several locations, which were all well done. The accommodations Adam arranged were all beautiful and totally comfortable. We could not have been happier with our tour. The country and Adriatic Sea, are beautiful, rescheduling everything at the last minute was handled extremely well, with no hassle for us, and our driver, Nenad, was terrific. We plan to return, and will definitely use Zico Tours for arrangements when we do.
Response from the operator: Dear Mrs and Mr West Thank you once againg for taking time and writing us this wonderful review. We would also like to thank you for being so nice and kind guests and making our jobs easy and fun. Hope things at home are doing well and sending to you and your family the warmest regards. Adam

Why this scores 56
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
The BEST of Croatia - 8 Days Private Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Zagreb.
How much does The BEST of Croatia - 8 Days Private Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $1700 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Zagreb usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does The BEST of Croatia - 8 Days Private Tour take?
+
Plan for about 192 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Zagreb is not rushed.
Is The BEST of Croatia - 8 Days Private Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Zagreb, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule The BEST of Croatia - 8 Days Private Tour?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is The BEST of Croatia - 8 Days Private Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 192-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book The BEST of Croatia - 8 Days Private Tour?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Zagreb can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Zagreb and add a light layer if any part of the 192-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does The BEST of Croatia - 8 Days Private Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Zagreb within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Zagreb?
+
On Outty we rank every Zagreb experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Communism & Croatian Homeland War Tour, Zagreb Highlights: Old Town, WWII tunnels, Funicular & Tastings, Old Zagreb Private Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Zagreb?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Zagreb?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
