Tuk Tuk Tour of Budapest
We had a four hour tour with Norbert in Budapest on Saturday, May 16. It was one of the best tours we had on our entire 17 day trip. Norbert was the very best tour guide. He was informative, accompanying us to several sights, stops to take pictures for us when our view was obstructed, etc. He was funny and engaging. Kudos to Norbert for a fantastic experience in Budapest.

Worthwhile & Fun Food Tour
A great introduction to authentic Hungarian foods with the added bonus of interesting information & context around Budapest history and customs. Our guide Emőke was knowledgeable, friendly, warm, and made the experience a lot of fun.

Excellent food tour
Great food tour and Nick was great fun and very knowledgeable. We both took all his recommendations about where to eat after and it was a perfect way to set up our City break in Budapest.

Great guide, Disappointing Tour for the Price
This tour left a little more to be desired. First, let’s start with the positive: Gabor, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable, friendly, and full of historical information on the origins of each food or drink as well as the history of the food. He was great. The tour was originally meant to be a 2 hour food tour. Our tour was finished in 1 hour. We traveled to two places. At the second place, Gabor brought food and drink from other locations (cold chimney cake, Palinka and souvenir glasses, and a popular candy bar). We ate quickly, and felt slightly rushed. Traditionally, in our experience with prior food tours, part of the charm is visiting local spots, engaging with local merchants, and actually eating the food when it is freshly prepared and hot. The first stop was cafeteria-style with food that had been prepared and sitting for a time. On our second stop we had freshly prepared langos which was delicious. We came to find that the second stop was our only other stop. Gabor took cold chimney cake from his bag, as well as candy and palinka. I was hoping for a more rich experience and at the price point fo our tour (almost $100/person) I fell very let down. Again, Gabor was very nice but the locations chosen and the lack of freshly prepared food or experience made this a tour I will not recommend.
Response from the operator: Dear Ashish, Thank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and balanced review. We’re really glad to hear how much you appreciated Gabor — his knowledge, warmth, and passion for food history clearly came through, and that personal connection is a core part of what we aim to offer. At the same time, we understand why the overall experience felt disappointing, especially given the shorter duration and the way the tastings were presented. When guests book a food tour, it’s natural to expect time to move between local spots, interact with vendors, and enjoy food as it’s freshly prepared. We hear clearly that this rhythm and richness were missing for you, and that the experience didn’t feel aligned with the value you expected at this price point. Thank you for explaining so clearly what you were hoping for and how the tour compared to other food experiences you’ve enjoyed. Feedback like yours is genuinely helpful in reflecting on how these tours are structured and how they come across in practice. Kind regards, The Withlocals Team

Why this scores 65
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
The Award-Winning Private Food Tour of Budapest: 6 or 10 Tastings: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Budapest.
How much does The Award-Winning Private Food Tour of Budapest: 6 or 10 Tastings cost?
+
Prices start at $158 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Budapest usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does The Award-Winning Private Food Tour of Budapest: 6 or 10 Tastings take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Budapest is not rushed.
Is The Award-Winning Private Food Tour of Budapest: 6 or 10 Tastings worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 189 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Budapest, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule The Award-Winning Private Food Tour of Budapest: 6 or 10 Tastings?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is The Award-Winning Private Food Tour of Budapest: 6 or 10 Tastings suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book The Award-Winning Private Food Tour of Budapest: 6 or 10 Tastings?
+
Around 66 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Budapest can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Budapest and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does The Award-Winning Private Food Tour of Budapest: 6 or 10 Tastings start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Budapest within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Budapest?
+
On Outty we rank every Budapest experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Budapest City Landmarks Walking Tour in 2 Hours, Countryside Half-day Gastro-Wine Tour from Budapest Meal & pickup, Budapest free walking tour: Parliament and Shoes Memorial. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Budapest?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Budapest?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
