Budapest dinner
We enjoyed the dinner of pea soup, duck, potatoes, cabbage and wine. Nice couple didn't speak English but the driver was a friend and interpreter. Tour of the house. Long drive from Budapest to the suburb.
Response from the operator: Thank you for joining us! 😊 We’re glad you enjoyed the homemade Hungarian dinner, wine, and the chance to visit a local family in their home. We hope it gave you a little taste of everyday Hungarian life and hospitality!

Highlight of our trip
The dinner was the highlight of our river cruise down the Danube. The food and wine were great, and the hosts were most gracious in inviting us into their home and preparing a special meal for us to enjoy with them. The hosts also went out of their way to prepare special food for my wife, a vegetarian, and for my daughter in law who is gluten intolerant. It felt like we were having a dinner with friends. We learned more about, and developed a new-found appreciation for, Hungarian culture. Do not miss this opportunity if you visit Budapest. Finally, the arrangements our hosts made to pick us up and return us to our cruise ship were flawless. A clear 10 out of 10.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words — we truly loved having you in our home and sharing a special evening with you. It was a joy to cook for your family, especially making sure everyone had something delicious that suited their needs. We're so happy you felt at home, that means the world to us. Thank you for being such warm and curious guests. It was our pleasure to share a piece of Hungarian life with you. We hope the rest of your Danube journey was just as memorable. Kata and Dani

Lovely afternoon meal with a Hungarian family
Attila was our guide and driver, to and from our hotel, which is a very nice benefit. He gave us interesting information about Hungary’s history and joined us for the lunch. Our hosts, Daniel and Kata, kindly welcomed us into their home and prepared a delicious, authentic Hungarian 3-course meal. It’s the best meal of our trip! I highly recommend this experience, to be able to meet and share a wonderful meal with a Hungarian family where they live.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! 😊 Kata, Daniel and Attila will be delighted to hear that the dinner was the best meal of your trip. Sharing good food and conversation in a real Hungarian home is exactly what this experience is about. Thank you for spending the evening with us!

Why this scores 64
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
The best Hungarian dinner w/ locals in their home w/ car transfer: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Budapest.
How much does The best Hungarian dinner w/ locals in their home w/ car transfer cost?
+
Prices start at $160 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Budapest usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does The best Hungarian dinner w/ locals in their home w/ car transfer take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Budapest is not rushed.
Is The best Hungarian dinner w/ locals in their home w/ car transfer worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 30 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Budapest, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule The best Hungarian dinner w/ locals in their home w/ car transfer?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is The best Hungarian dinner w/ locals in their home w/ car transfer suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book The best Hungarian dinner w/ locals in their home w/ car transfer?
+
Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Budapest can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Budapest and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does The best Hungarian dinner w/ locals in their home w/ car transfer start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Budapest within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Budapest?
+
On Outty we rank every Budapest experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Budapest City Landmarks Walking Tour in 2 Hours, Countryside Half-day Gastro-Wine Tour from Budapest Meal & pickup, Budapest free walking tour: Parliament and Shoes Memorial. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Budapest?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Budapest?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
