All our interactive museum tours are inspired by stories, and we’re pleased to present our newest tour, a story…about stories themselves. “The Art of Stories” looks at tales of the Met, backstories of the works of art, narratives set in the museum, and the origin of stories themselves, seen through the perspective of works of art. From myths to fairy tales, fables to epic quests, the tour will transport participants to a cave full of treasure and heroes on daring quests, a sword in a stone and a girl who loses her shoe. We’ll see how stories can take us to other worlds, shift our viewpoint of the world we’re in….and sometimes literally save someone’s life. Recommended for ages 12 and up

The Metropolitan Museum of Art
The guide will meet participants in the Great Hall and take them on a tour inspired by stories-those that take place in and around the Met, as well as stories of specific works of art and the origins of many stories themselves, inspired by the works of art.

Wonderful Tour
Wonderful tour. Thoroughly engaging and gave me a fresh pair of eyes on a museum I’ve been to a lot. Our guide was warm and funny, really enjoyed spending time with her. 100% recommend.

Fun, informative, and personal tour
Knowing how much I love to read and to write, my daughter gifted this tour to me and we attend together. Evan was so knowledgeable and attentive. She asked questions to help tailor the tour to our needs and likes. This was such a fun tour and Evan shared some of the secrets of the Met Museum too! We loved our tour and will absolutely book another in the future!

It is one of the best tours. Tour guide (Evan) is very engaging with intriguing selection of topics and vast knowledge. I love the Metropolitan Museum, and hope to learn more as it fascinates and inspires me. I recommend this tour to all visitors.

Evan Levy’s guided tours of the MET
Many thanks Evan for two wonderful private tours of the MET. Evan’s Ghost Stories tour was fascinating as was her very informative ‘The Art of Stories’ tour which took us on a wonderful journey through the MET to discover 2000 years of stories which ranged from the twelve labours of Hercules to the significance of Arthurian legend in J K Rowlings Harry Potter series. Evan brought these and so many other well known stories to life through the sculpture, art and objects on display in the labyrinth of galleries that make up this fabulous museum. While the museum was busy, Evan expertly navigated the crowds allowing us to get very close to her selected works. To further enhance our experience of the art relating to these tours, Evan offered us a curated list of recommended books to read and films to watch. In doing so, the memory of these tours will live on for many months to come. Thank you for the lists Evan. I have made a start. 😊 I would recommend anyone wishing to take a tour of the MET with a delightful, well informed guide to contact Evan whose fee represented very good value for money. Louise. Knowledge and Understanding
Evan Levy has a wealth of Knowledge and experience dealing with the Metropolitan Museum. She was filled with fun facts and an excellent conversationalist. The array of knowledge she hosts could possibly be overwhelming, but she is able to bring it into containment within highlights realm. Started with the first piece ever obtained a rather beautiful and heavy sarcophagus. It ended within the armory. A joy to have such a well-versed guide in such a large plethora of installations.
