The Accademia Gallery is the mandatory stop for all those who wish to admire Michelangelo's original David. This is only one of his masterpieces on display, others including the Palestrina Pietà, Saint Matthew and the four unfinished Prisoners. During this guided visit in the Room of the Colossus we can admire the plaster model for Jean de Boulogne’s most famous work, the Rape of the Sabine Women, which is now at the Loggia dei Lanzi, in Piazza della Signoria. The tour pays attention to a representative selection of XIV-XVIth century Florentine painting at the Gallery. The Gypsothech of the Accademia houses many interesting models in gesso by XIX century sculptors – Lorenzo Bartolini and Luigi Pampaloni. During the tour we will see the collection of musical instruments on loan from the Conservatoire. It includes two of the three surviving instruments of the Medici String Quintet, built by Stradivarius for the Grand Duke.

A must see attraction in Florence.
We heard that this is a must see attraction in Florence and it didn’t disappoint. We booked via GetYourGuide and it cost us £28 each with audio quite included. We arrived at our meeting point which was ticket office nearby the gallery, as directed by the GetYourGuide app. A gentleman took us to the gallery and showed us the entrance we needed to go in for our specified time and we walked straight in. He also showed us how to download the app for our audio guide and how to use it. The David statue is situated right in the middle of the gallery and is incredible. The audio guide is also great at guiding you around the gallery and explaining the meaning of David and other fabulous works of art. The place is a little busy and there are lots of visitors trying to take photos, so booking an early time slot like we did is probably better. There is also lots of other statues and paintings to see in the gallery, so don’t miss these as well as the musical instruments and other works of art on the second floor of the gallery. This is something you will be glad you took time to visit, but maybe don’t buy anything from the gift shop as it’s a little expensive and there are plenty of vendors outside selling David statues that are just as good quality for cheaper.

Fabulous museum!
A great museum, with a wonderful collection of famous Michelangelo sculptures including the David. A favorite of mine were the slave sculptures, they were not completed. Make sure you get a timed ticket before going. It is crowded around the David. It is a small museum compared to the Uffizi.

I cried like a child
The experience has already started very well with the possession of our tickets and we entered the schedule with very little queue and very organized. The museum is all very beautiful, with extraordinary works (very surprised with the museum of music in its interior) but the view of the David of Michelangelo, with that dome illuminating it, is to make any teacher of art cry...and that was what I did...I cried in front of that absolute perfection.

Irina's experience and knowledge made for a wonderful experience
My wife and I recently went to Florence for the first time to visit our daughter during her semester abroad. We spent a day and half with Irina visiting Accademia, Ufizzi, the Duomo, Central Market and local patisseries. Irina was a phenomenal guide. She was very patient and helpful while we planned our itinerary before leaving for the trip. Once there, she met us punctually each morning and was a wealth of knowledge. We especially appreciated the "little things" she would point out that we otherwise would have missed. She was clearly passionate about all the treasures in this beautiful city. There's just so much to see in Florence - having an experienced guide like Irina helped us make the most of our short time there.

Rope drop this place
This place is, unsurprisingly, most famous for David. It's worth getting there early because you can see David when he's not surrounded by hundreds of people. We went at 8:30 and by 10 the museum was crowded. Besides David, the museum has amazing pieces of art by Lippi , Bartolini, and Michelangelo, among others.
